Re R888R from what I've read: new carcass design and much stiffer sidewall. Plus new tread design of course, which is not as effective in wet conditions.
End result (apparently): a tire that doesn't fall as quickly like the old R888 used to do. So perhaps much closer to NT01 behaviour. No first hand experience with them tho.

The traction/stability control was intrusive because you just had the car in Track mode and didn't have any of the PTM modes engaged. Once you put the car in Track, then push the TC button twice to bring up the PTM modes (Wet, Dry, Sport 1, Sport 2, Race). Each mode progressively dials back the stability control to allow the car more power and yaw.
Thanks for the info. Little embarrassed I didn't know that.

See my thread on PTM settings, my OP has a summary and there is a great chart on page 1 as well. Should be helpful figuring it out. Cheers!

Here's a little different flavor- here is a video of my brother driving the GT4 coming on track right behind me in the 1LE at Mid Ohio last weekend in the instructor run group. My car was on Yokohama non-dot take-off slicks, the GT4 is on Pirelli Pzero non-dot take-off slicks. Once my brother warmed up the tires, we had a blast snaking through traffic together... I just wish we would have gotten a few more laps! Only one close call, when he carried a little too much speed on entry to T7 and dropped two wheels in the grass. Amazing how well matched the 1LE and GT4 are on track.

Wow, that is impressive! You guys were flying. The 1LE is amazing to hang w/ the GT4. Great job

I plan to be their on the 23rd as well. My only concern is exhaust noise and whether NPP in "track" mode can pass the 92dB test?

I was told by Laguna officials that I registered 95.4, but that was nearly @ redline. Short shifting into 4th dropped me under the magic number but I never asked what it was.

The only way you can pass at Laguna without the 90* bolt on elbows that I use is to short shift into 4th and lift.
