Playing from USB (flash drive) and folder icons
I can't get my folder.jpg images to display when playing music. They're currently 200x200 JPEGs. Anyone else see album art? If so, what size / name are your album art images?

Were you able to figure this out? I'd like to know as well so I can have the album art displayed instead of the music note icon.

You have to embed the album art into the mp3. I do not believe it will use a folder containing them. I use a free program called mp3tag to do so. It will even help you find some album art by using Amazon's database.

AFAIK album art is drawn from the Gracenote database, accessed (I think) via OnStar. I am fairly certain that metadata from a USB folder will not display.

Partially correct. Gracenote is used (not sure if it uses OnStar LTE connection but I suspect so) if it doesn't find embedded album art. But it will look to the file itself first. I did have some issues with it not wanting to use my embedded artwork when my OnStar data was active but not since (which tells me they are related). But I also dumped my XM around the same time. Most of the music I listen to is not in Gracenote and my embedded artwork definitely shows up. So at least it will work that way. Just not heard any success with linking it to a folder containing the artwork.

Downloaded MP3TAG and it's a great little program and easy to use. Since all my ripped music is in separate album folders, I can just select those songs and add the album art to all of them at the same time. It will even embed album art into lossless files which is what I want. I want to use lossless so I can have great sound on my home system, and still use my USB drive in my car.
