Going to buy a RotoFab CAI, but a few questions first.
I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge about this specific CAI or others that may provide better gains. Why do dry filters make more sound and power over oiled filters? Why should I removed the sound tube? I have a few questions like this so if you have any knowledge on the subject I'm open to any thoughts( also I know there was probably another thread very similar to me).

No essays needed.
Only one manufacturer has gone to great lengths to document the testing and gains (substantial) of their product. The others haven't. Those must be the ones you mean when talking about minimal gains.

I have not seen one independent test to any CAI which show LONG TERM substantial power gains on a otherwise stock\untuned car. I do agree with your statement that RF has been the most vocal and seemingly most supported CAI on the forums though. If you have any proof otherwise I would love to see it.

I would be interested to know the effects of the sound tube removal. I think I understand what it is supposed to do, but I would like a more detailed description of what the sound tube does and what changes occur when it's gone.

Long term as in after the ECU has adapted to an expected (not saying true but expected) increased air flow.

I took mine out. There's a diaphragm within the circular part that is bolted to the block. It somehow passively produces a noise that ends up in the cabin. The tube from the diaphragm to the cabin passes air. After taking mine apart I don't believe this is in any way a natural noise being magnified. It's fake. Like CNN lol. But seriously, it's purely cosmetic, passive, and I honestly don't miss it at all. I believe the RF has probably increased some noise such as a modified intake should to the point where I can't tell a difference at all. I don't miss it at all. After taking the so called secondary cats out I don't need any more noise anyway. Also, taking all of the snorkel apparatus out has allowed me to place a catch can using the same mounting points on the block for ease of dumping all the oil mixture out.

I would look into the GM Cold Air Intake that was just released. It literally comes with a tune that is installed by the dealer, and this guy says he felt gains from it. Check out this thread - http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showth...497383&page=17

You'd have to be a hopeless optimist to feel any gains from a filter change alone.

Sure, I'd consider selling mine. PM me if you want and see what we can do.
