Build quality

I really love my Camaro but does it seem the quality is much less on the 6th Gen compared to the 4th gen 5th gen. Ive owned all 3 gens. I don't want to be ungrateful but it really seems more problems with this Generation.

There have alaways been issues in all gen's..... its just with all the social media and the internet, everyday people are more aware of it......

If you look at overall Camaro production, the cars having issues are a very, very low percentage....... typical numbers....

You seriously think the 6th gen is lower quality than the 4-5 gens?

Wow. The old cars had horrible chassis and cheap plastic interiors. The 6th gen is built like a tank and has much better interior plastic.

Seriously, I have no idea what you're smoking. But you're definitely hallucinating.

No issues here, all smiles with the evolution of the Camaro. It's energized my love affair with the 'muscle car'.

I had a 5th Gen and to me this car is way better in every sense of the word. The mechanics, interior and technology of my 6th Gen are all superior. Every new generation of car has issues, especially when in the first year. For anyone with problems, find a trustworthy and reputable dealer and they should be able to get them addressed.

All new models suffer from a few issues along the way, we are in the second year of production and the few I have seen and being fixed.

Go back and search the 2010 and 2011 post on problems.. People forget and move on but there were several things when the GEN5 first came out.

The 4th gen was built on a modified chassis that came out in 1982. So even the very last 2002 F-body was running on a chassis designed in the late 1970s. It's not even remotely close to the chassis engineering of the 6th gen. Torsional rigidity, gap alignment, stiffness...... those weren't even words used in the design labs back then, let alone the fact they were still using a slide rule and a drafting board when the F-body was drawn up.

And the 5th gen was put together hastily on a 1990s Holden Monaro chassis just to get it out there in a reasonable time frame.

The 6th gen is engineered using modern computers and it's strength was tested in theory long before the first plate of steel was stamped or welded. Speaking of welding, look at the weld points on a 4th gen compared to a 6th gen. Hand welding with lead or robotic precision laser welding? Hmmm I wonder what results in better stiffness and quality

Totally agree. 5th gen looks like a time warp back to the 90s when I get in one now

The paint quality on my 4th gen was better than on my 5th and 6th. Very easily scratched and chipped etc nowadays

Other than that everything is better on the newer cars.

Only problems I've had is I catch my foot on the hood opener popping it at least once a week.
Second problem is when it rains the left blind spot monitor blinks on and off when there isn't a thing in sight. I mean on a freeway and nothing across from the left side for over a hundred yards.
Third thing is when cold engine runs rough and tranny shifts funny sometimes.
