ZL1 has 3 inch diameter pipes vs the 2.75 on the SS's. Thus is even better to just get the secondary cats deleted (2.5 pipe on 2.75 or 3 on a 2.75 vs 3 on 3!).

You won't get a CEL unless the welder used a non arcing (straight) welder thus had a leak on top since you cannot get the top welded correctly with a straight welder. O2 sensor is on the primary cats NOT secondary.

It will cost you a whole 50 to 100 bucks to get it done and does wake up the car quite a bit. Not by much on idle though. Start up is a tad louder but not a whole lot. Under WoT is when you really can tell the difference and it is a massive difference.

If you are looking for a massive change in the symphony of LT4, get an axle/catback or full on exhaust system (LTs+xpipe+axleback).

+1 Great post i agree fully! Even know its not a ZL1 i have to say mine sounds better with the 2nd cats deleted. No codes or any issues. Just a bump in sound i was looking for...

I called several muffler shops in the Denver area and was told by all of them that it is against federal law to remove either cat. They refuse to have anything to do with it.

Please let us know your feelings after you get this done! I'm on the fence but don't know whether to hack up the factory exhaust or go stainless works or Corsa Xtreme but really would like a little more rumble from this baby... just too quiet unless on the throttle or cold start up.

my take on it as stated before for is sound is barely louder than before, in any situation other than WOT. If u want more rumble this is def not the fix, goahead and use that money for ur exhaust system, my .02

I'm waiting for Corsa to make a system for the ZL1...So far all they have is 2.75" that was meant for the SS that fits the ZL1. 3" please!

Re-check Corsa's website. I was doing the same thing....waiting. The SS part numbers are now showing ZL1. I ordered the extreme last week.

Looking for Corsa to make a 3"...Like they do for Z06s, ZR1s, 5th ZL1s, CTS-Vs...Headers end in 3"...Why go down to 2.75.

Well, when you go to Corsa's website and the first thing you see is 2017 Camaro ZL1 Now Available and then you click it and it leads to 2.75....you may have to wait awhile unless they eventually make a 3" catback. Did you ask them?

Ah crap, I was almost excited about the secondary cat delete. Would an aftermarket x-pipe help at all?

I drove the ZL1 and Z06 back to back and loved the Z06's tone a lot more, is there a difference in the header design between these two cars or is it just purely catback related?

I know what you mean, I've driven both back to back too and I definitely feel the same way you do. Try this: drive with the back seat divider down. The sound in the cabin is a little louder like this and I hear a little more bark from the ZL1. I feel that because the Z06 has no seat divider it seems louder and "beefier" but it could be all in my head.
