Only the 15/16 have that style lid.. 17+ gets the revised ZL1 cooling bits (including the taller, square flat top lid) and some track ducts to install like on the SS cars before 1LE

It's a shame that the "most track capable corvette ever" was such a rolling heater and I'm at a loss how that never came up in testing.. It's not even like it was a fluke or related to a small batch of cars.. It's widely prevalent on the 15s and 16s.

No Nurburgring time for it either. Makes you wonder

The air exiting the OEM air-water intercooler is easily 200+* during spirited driving!

Upon leaving the intercooler it passes through the A/C condensor.

And then into the radiator. On a car that already has limited airflow.

With the ZL1, they moved the air-water intercooler (heat exchanger) out of the radiator's air flow path. Also aided by a larger front end that allows more air flow.

Great observation, but this was not a fluke. GM knew they had a heater in the 6th Gen Z06/Z07. LT4 blower packaging without a raised hood (aka 09' ZR1) put them in a corner that they could not get out of.

The 2.3L blower ZR1 to this day has none of these heat related issues. The sad part is the 1.7L LT4 has been passed on as the go forward GM high performance engine platform (CTSV, ZL1).

I think most Z06 autos that go on to a road course over heat, you cant have 2 heat pumps on a car and not have it , at all my track events only C7 that make it back to the pits are M7 cars, the autos get off with the help of flat beds.

And what they did for the 17 did not change the over heating problem, the C7 needs to bring back the N.A. Z06 or change the look of the car so much that it will not be a Corvette IMO.

So that is why there are so many Tech Packs on the lot for over a year and no one wants them. Ford screwed the dealers on this one, unless they fix them.

But, I have the better, nicer, more luxurious car anyway, and faster..... oh, and cooler.....
I agree, shame on Ford for that!
