Bottom line in two head to head reviews both times the GT350R came out the winner regardless of the performance differance. The fun factor is clearly in the GT350R.
Performance cars are measured on their performance......Do I need to continue?

I might have given one a shot, as historically I haven't really been a GM guy, but Ford allowing dealers to do whatever they want price-wise with cars like this and the Focus RS really turned me off of them.

It may seem hard to believe now, but when the 5th Gen first came out it was hard to find one at MSRP.

So its not just Ford.

Initial demand versus limited availability. Not really that same thing since after the willing suckers are satisfied, the rest of us can buy normally

At some point people will get those GT350's on Autotrader at MSRP.

The dealer from whom I bought my car had two Z/28's in the showroom... first at some mark-up, then MSRP... for over two years! Recently unloaded them for high 50's, lol.

2014 Z/28
Production Cars 446 (#1-4 retained by GM)
CTF Cars - 69

2015 Z/28
Production Cars 1,287
CTF Cars - 5

Total Production 1,807

CTF = Captured Test Fleet - GM owned cars for display, employee drivers, auto press test cars etc.

CTF cars VIN's start with 69 - where Production car VIN's start with 70

Some low mile CTF cars were sold to dealers to sell to public when GM was done with them.

Suggested in press they would make 2,500 Z/28's for 2015 - but demand was not there for a $75k Camaro in most markets after the initial hype was over. So GM stopped making them mid year 2015 and gave dealers $15k off price to help move the inventory. Dealers that held out ended up selling in the $25k off MSRP range to move them.

So for those late to the party getting brand new Z/28's at $50k - $55K - that is a lot of car for the money!

I would not ever buy a car that has been sitting for 2 years. There is a good chance that a lot of seals are dry rotted from not being used. The old saying applies, if you don't use it you lose it.

HI J MAHER AMG

Am I getting under your skin? LOL!!

Looks like I got mentioned over on M6G. This child came over here peeking and didn't like that I said the GT350R is a POS. LOL. And ran back to tell his Mustang buddies, lol!! For the record, I never said the ZL1 is the "TRUE" winner. It obviously lost the overall comparison which I am fine with. What matters to me is that it is a performance car and it won in every performance category. And why does it matter what I think about the GT350R? You guys over there bought it because of how it "feels" and the "experience" and how "special" it is. HAHA!! Does my opinion of it matter to them that much??!! Heck, I personally don't care if they hate the ZL1.

Hello Ignorant individual

You, along with anyone else who chooses to be arrogant and disrespectful, gets under my skin. I don't feel the need to insult people or their belongings to share my ideas/views. I would say the same thing FYI whether we were talking about cars, business, engineering, photography, whatever. The disrespect and ignorance shown by yourself and others, as well as many on "*my*" side only further separates enthusiasts who are fans of two great cars for no reason.

I don't have "Mustang" buddies. "I got family"... kidding, this isn't a Dodge forum I just have friends. I don't care what they drive, their personalities and character are what is important to me.

I guess if you are 50+ you could call me a "child" considering I only just turned 26. But I think the majority of people would agree that those who resort to personal insults to be far more childish than another calling an individual out for being ignorant.

And for the record, if you're looking at these vehicles as "performance tools" then certainly the better one for the job is the ZL1, particularly the upcoming 1LE version. But frankly in another year or two it will be outperformed by some other rival, and where does that leave you if you Have to Have the fastest available car?

Do you dump your girlfriend every time you see a more physically attractive woman? Does a job that pays more automatically mean its a "better" job? There is far more to life than objective stats. If you spend it chasing numbers, you'll never, ever win, and miss out on focusing on what really matters. Choosing a car that makes you Happy is far more important IMO, and if it happens to have great numbers as well that is just a bonus. I'd bet my R that 98% of the buying public can't come anywhere near the limits of either of these cars, so unless you are a professional driver why put so much into the limit stats?
