Amazing 1le

Ran first autocross in 20 plus years and had a blast!! It's so tight and well balanced with great brakes and torque The stock goodyears exceeded my expectations for sure. I will attempt to link a go pro video of my best lap. Ended up with 2nd fastest raw time and 2nd in pax on all stock and factory alignment. This car communicates so well and gives so much confidence. I'm curious how much an re 71 square setup would help from anyone with experience and also I would like to know if anyone dailys with the bridge stones and how much noisier and rough they are
I really enjoy this forum and all the great info everyone shares.

I've got a 2SS in street class with MRC and daily drive on RE-71Rs with 19" wheels. Noise during the break in period was a bit much, but now I don't notice it unless going over about 70mph. I've got 275/35r19s up front and 285/35r19s in back.

I ran on stock GYs last year for the whole year in novice- my best PAX in my local region was 14th/60. Last weekend was our region's second points event, and I came in 8/65 PAX. Keep in mind this is only my second year doing this. If I had to guess, the bridgestones are about 1-2 seconds faster than the stock GYs over a 1 minute course. I know the SS is slightly different than the 1LE though, and I went from 245s up front to 275s, so that is also making a difference.

You're running 275/35s on 8.5" wide front rims? I'd bet whoever mounted those things wasn't very pleased with that task. That's quite a pinch with such a short, stiff sidewall.

Mind you, I used to have the Hoosier guys put 225/50s on some 5.5" rims back when I ran in Showroom Stock and IT classes. They definitely didn't like mounting/dismounting those things.

Well the first shop refused to mount any of the tires since the machine they had didnt work with my wheels. The second shop had them for a week, tried a few different things, scuffed up the wheels, and gave up. The third shop may have used ether (and a touchless machine)... but they got them on and they have been working great!

Thanks Irish for the info on the bridgestones. Now I have to decide which size either 305 square on 19 inch wheels and run in cam class or 295 square on 20 inch and stay in As I registered in cam class first event since there were eight cars and no other As. Btw I live about 50 minutes from south bend

You should be able to run 305/19s on a 1LE and stay in A-Street!

The 305 19s are what I was hoping for but wasn't sure if they would fit on the stock wheel width on the front. Do you know what width the stock 1le wheels are.

Stock fronts are 20x10, rears 20x11. You can go 19x10 and 19x11 with 305 square no problem, but with stock offsets you will get some slight rub. Based off what another 1LE did it really only needs about 5mm of extra offset up front.

So if I do end up going with 19's with 305s I will do 19x10 w/ 15mm offset up front and 19x11 w/40mm offset out back with the 305/30/19 RE71rs on all 4 corners! And most importantly that should still be legal for A-Street!!!

Just an FYI if you mount a 305 tire on a 10 rim you're going outside of any manufacturer's rim size specs. I know folks do it, but I'd never run this combo on a road course.

↑↑↑ agreed. Autocross kind of gets a pass based on the extremely short durations of the runs and on the tighter control of risk than exists in most any other kind of driving.

While I might run half an inch "too narrow" for autocross only and for short term street driving, I wouldn't even think about it for the big tracks or unrestricted street use.

If you're going to be at all serious about autocross, put the RE71's on 19's and keep the 20" setup for all or at least most of your street driving.

No sense giving away any of the RE71 goodness by throwing lots of small street driving heat cycles at them in between events.
