AA works great, for sure. I just want Amazon to update their music app to work with the Android voice commands. If Spotify can do it, there's no reason Amazon can't.

Bluetooth is too slow to handle AA data.

What wireless AA will use is a direct wifi connection. However, the primary issue with that setup and why it's taken so long for Apple and Google to roll out wireless solutions is the battery usage. your device would die on a simple couple hours of usage without plugging it in. Now you could rock a wireless charging setup but that's not very universally supported and it's still likely to have most of the downsides of plugging your device in.

What will probably happen before that is just a wider adoption head units that are more like smart phones. Either by having android running on it directly or an alternative like the potential of the open linux infotaiment systems that Toyota is headlining.

It's just unlikely you'll have much success with wireless AA with current battery/phone tech being very popular when you just have to plug in after using it because your phone is dead. Much more convenient to charge it while it's doing nothing in the car anyway (current setup).

Google will show the gas prices use it all the time, its just for 87 but still get a sense of which stations are cheaper for us premium gas users.
Just say "ok google, find a gas station" and all the nearby ones show up with their prices.

Its the coolest thing ever.I push the talk button on the steering wheel and say directions to some place and i get audible directions and map on the mylink screen. I say play ozzy ozborne on spotify and it does! I apologize if this is old news but this is my first car with mylink and now im kicking myself for not upgrading my cell a year ago. Its like i got navigation and my own jukebox for free. Its fricking awesome!!!
Did they charge you for android auto? I went to my dealer last week for a oil change and the service guy told me it would cost me $150 to switch to android auto. He said that 2016 cars had till April to get it switched over for Free.

No fee, it is a My Link update, that is all, free of charge.

Actually, it is pretty useless. There are very few apps, the most useful, Waze, is not yet available, and requiring usb connection is simply prehistoric.

I don't really like AA. The gps that's built in the car is way nicer and is intergraded into the HUD so no need for Google maps.

I liked the car's Navigation until it lost signal on a Los Angeles freeway and proceeded to lead me on a ****ing trip through the inner city. It would lose signal, think I'm on a different road, then reroute me on a very shitty route, get the signal back, re-reroute me back into the negative zone of GPS, then re-re-reroute me on an even different route because it placed me a 1/4-mile away.

I originally thought it was trying to redirect me around traffic, but no, it was just lost and guessing where to send me. Now I can't bring myself to trust the car. lol

Tell your dealer service manager to do the update for free or he's a dunce and take it somewhere else. It's a free update to the MyLink software. On all Camaros. At any time.

What a bafoon.
