Is your air deflector limp?

Fear no more. I've heard a few members comment that the rubber deflectors on the front edges of the ZL1 deform a bit when you put them on. Some have even opted to remove them. I took a quick trip to the home center and bought a sheet of aluminum then made a template using the rubber air dam and cut out a piece that fits underneath. After scuffing the surface down with some 200 grit paper in order to make it a bit more finished I reinstalled it and voila no more wimpy spoiler sag. Obviously I had nothing better to do.

Haven't experienced this myself as of yet, nice job on the fix.

Mine has the "sag" in a few places. Looks kike a really good fix, but before I go to all that trouble, I think I'll try reinstalling mine starting from the center screws and working my way out.

Until seeing your pictures, I assumed they were all just regular round holes in the deflector and didn't realize the outboards were slightly elongated. I think I might be able to take some of the sag/gap out by pushing the deflector up/flush while tightening the outboard bolts....if not, then it's to Lowe's I go.

I tried that initially but was unsuccessful. Here's a before picture illustrating the problem. If you tighten the screws up the rubber deforms at the outer edges no matter what you do. The aluminum support is a much better alternative. Good luck.

I removed mine for that exact reason. I actually thought about doing something like that myself, but decided to just throw them in the trunk for now.

Great idea. What are the dimensions of the piece of aluminum? Thanks, Sam.

Pics please. If there's an updated piece that fixes the sag, it should be a warranty replacement.

I wonder if the saggy piece is even effective? I'm considering leaving it off for the track.

The pieces on the corners are supposed to be removed for the track to aid in brake cooling. The only reason they are on there is for fuel mileage and the dealer installs them at PDI.
