Header install

I'm looking for the proper torque specs and sequence for the kooks 1 7/8 manifold bolts along with the torque specs for the 2 adapter brackets. I have tried numerous searches but keep coming up blank. Thanks in advance.

23N*m or 17ft*lbs when installing on existing cylinder heads for installing headers.

Flex plate bolts: 15N*m or 11ft*lb (first pass), 30N*m or 22ft*lb (2nd pass), final pass 45*(degrees).

Not sure about adapter brackets.

Sorry, unrelated but when you are finished with the install, and have a moment, could you describe the good, bad, etc. of the install please? Dropping my Kooks 1 7/8's to get coated inside and out tomorrow and then once I have them the Kooks 3" exhaust arrive I have to decide to do the install myself or use the professionals. Don't have access to a lift myself.
Thanks and I hope you got her buttoned up.

Joes you def need a lift or really tall jacks. Both header go in from the bottom. I just did mine and they are kinda hard. You either have to remove the motor mounts or file a little off the top of the mount to get the passenger side on. Driver side is easy. And I torqued my header bolts to 15lbs.

Thanks for the info. The shop it is then. They will still have to tune anyways while it's there. I've changed a few out on some older cars and catbacks are cake but these engines these days it's to darn tight. Thanks again for the heads up.

When watching the Vengeance Racing video on their STG 3 package for the ZL1 I noticed that they dropped the passenger side header in from the top..? Maybe because of what you noticed. I think it was American Racing headers though which could make a difference.

Header installs are far from hard. I did all my cars in the driveway on truck jackstands. I guess if you got money to burn go to the shop for them to rip you. If you're cutting and grinding to make something fit, YOU are doing something wrong. Transmission swaps, rear end swaps engine swaps all done on jackstands in the driveway.

These sixth gens are a little bit of a pain in the ass. So much extra crap to take off to get it done. That being said, I did in in my shop on jack stands. My fifth gen was a 2 hour job. The sixth gen took about 6 hrs. It can be done. It's just isn't as easy as it used to be.

Can't be harder than a 4th Gen or a 3rd gen for what it's worth.
I've heard from many that the 6 gens are by far the easiest.

Just finished up with the install. Definitely took my time. I had use of a lift and it was still quite time consuming. Driver side was pretty straightforward. Passenger side was tight and had a very difficult time with the oil tube. I spent most of the time trying to get it out and put it back in. To get out had to remove stock header from the top. Read multiple how tos and they all said to install and tighten headers then reinstall oil tube. Not the case had to uninstall headers and reinstall to get tube back in. I was quoted $700-$1000 to install. If you don't have a lift, a friend to give you a hand and lots of time, then pay to have someone else put them in. Just my 2 cents.

Good lord 7-1000 to install? I need to get into the install business. Even if I were a millionaire I wouldn't pay that for someone to do it. Gives me more of an attachment to my vehicles when I do the blood sweat and tears of wrench turning. I'd be curious what all of you are really paying or what is said when someone ask you what you paid for in mods. Hahahah $2000 for exhaust plus 1000 installation fee =$3000 lol $7000 forced induction=you paid 10g for that supercharger lol

I've paid in your book tons of cash. Thankfully I do have disposable income to do such things since my skillset and time do not afford me the option in most cases. I respect that you prefer to work on your vehicles yourself and I'm sure that comes with great satisfaction.
