The Gen 5 could hold an assload of stuff in the backseat.

  1. 6th Gen vs. 5th Gen
  2. Auto vs. Manual
  3. V8 vs. V6
  4. Muscle vs. Pony
And don't forget the furious debates between the 5th Gen ZL1 fans vs the 5th Gen Z/28 fans! Those were entertaining to say the least.

I have a 69 Mustang with a big block for a toy now that I'm selling. I'm looking to get a 6th gen sometime fairly soon. I've owned 2 3rd gens and 2 4th gen LS1 cars and a 2005 Mustang GT in the past.

-The 6th gens look to have some really nice upgrades over the 5th gens that make them worth the extra money to me, especially looking at prices (more on that later). The new LT1 motor seems to be a nice step up from the LS motors (which were GREAT motors IMHO).

-The lighter weight chassis of the 6th gen. One of the biggest things that kept me from the 5th gens was the weight. They are pigs. A Camaro should never weigh around 4,000 lbs.

- Styling. I think the 2010-2013 cars looked pretty plain. The 2014-15 cars were a step up visually. The 2016-17 cars look even better overall to me. The 16-17 hood is pretty weak looking though. The new ZL1's look so much more aggressive to me than the more neutered SS look.

-Pricing. I see quite a few 2017 SS's priced in the low 30's at dealers now. Including a nice red one close to me. Looking at used prices at 5th and 6th gens, buying new seems to be the way to go. I see a lot of mid 20's to even mid 30's used asking prices on the 5th gens. And some of the used 2016 cars are asking low to mid 30's (the same price as brand new).

-Mustangs. The new Mustangs look way too European to me. I'm not interested.

-Challengers. Great looking, powerful, but pigs, heavy cars. Not what I'm looking for in a toy.

-Overall, I'm really looking forward to getting into a 6th gen. I just wish the SS styling was a bit more aggressive, but that can be fixed with some mods.

Pigs you say of the 5th gen!?! Guess what was the major inspiration for your sort of beloved 6th Gen? Too heavy, guess you fall into long standing media bias. The 2016 were 300 lbs lighter if you bought the turbo 4. The difference is less when you go up to V6 or V8 although is quite evident on track drifting. Check out Motorweek review on 2016 SS. The car was drifting quite a bit.

With your storied history with Camaro I see you bought a 2005 Stang. Could that be because there was no Camaro in the horizon? Would you have bought a 5th? BTW, 5th Gens are anything but boring in appearance.

Now onto 6th Gen looks, you say the hood is plain and Super Sports are boring. Would you be happy with a 6th Gen? Actually, the hood has too many creases! The big mouth front end is actually the weakest part. Some even refer to it as a big mouthed bass.

And another thing on prices, 5th Gens on resale lots command a decent price because of demand. Chevy is finally getting around to being competitive on pricing the 2017s.

Best of luck on your decision. Would you be happy with either?

The T4 is 300lbs lighter than the 6th gen SS, which is 3700. The T4 is around 3400. The 5 is 3900+. Yes, the 5 is a pig. It's been a well known complaint and flaw since it came to market. It might not feel like a 4klb car, but it is absolutely too heavy.

The ZL1 and Z28 don't look boring. The LS/LT/SS stock do.

I get the 2005 Mustang. It was a Home Run hit. I had a 2008 Pony Pkg for 7.5 yrs before Camaro. I was sitting in my Mustang and saw a white 5th Gen with black top. Instant loved the combo & aggressive look. 2 weeks later I got it. What a step up in looks, quality & HP.

And for you Gen 6 Fanboys calling 5th Gen a Pig. I would never stoop so low, calling someones's ride a pig. Get the hell over yourselves!

Calm down bro you got a cool car relax it's all good.

See man that's how you do it though you don't go talking about how shit the hood looks or how it looks like a large mouth bass or any of the other sneaky b******* that's been coming out of your mouth for the last five or six posts that you've done. And the guy that called your car a pig doesn't own a Camaro at all so there's no need to bash ours becouse we weren't bashing yours.

I like the Gen 6 overall, just parts I don't care for. The wide mouth bass comments have come from other guys, I just mentioned that, yes a couple of times (when it seems relevant).

I was calm until I read that outlandish comment, and was happy the tread was calming down last few days.

Thanks for the comment on my ride. I really dig the color of your Camaro!

PIG is a derogatory word, anyway you slice it. As I said before I would never say anyone's car 3rd Gen, 4th Gen or 6th Gen is a pig. As you can see we take our car models seriously. The whole point of this thread was to alert Camaro5 that Chevy was taking poor sales seriously and finally doing something about it. And believe it or not it has been discussed on Camaro5 that the prices were outlandish and one of the reasons that Gen 5ers wouldn't trade up.

When the 'brilliant' moderator decided to move it over here, the fireworks began. I also chimed in by listing my complaints on Gen6, individual components of the car, like overdose of creases on the hood, ill placement of quarter seams, esp on light colors, front bottom lip - jutting out too far and the stupid spot of phone charger. That's a critique of Chevy, and just my opinion and hopefully they'll listen again. Like my scathing review of Gen 5 refresh and the stupid raising of the black plastic under the plate. They fixed that for Gen 6, a win - all the way around.

I'll say it again I think Gen 6 is a great car overall. If they have to drop an engine Chevy better drop the T4 rather than the V6. If they follow Ford and drop the V6 sales will tumble, for sure!

Pig is a common name for a heavy vehicle. And you have loaded this thread with passive aggressive BS about how 6g owners are easily ruffled all while taking side shots at the car and it's owners. And now here you are whining because someone called 5th gens a heavy pig. Ironic.

The fireworks began right off the bat and this thread was nothing but a bunch of deragatory nonsense. It got moved and yet you continued. You made your bed now don't whine when it has spun around on you. Shake the sand out of your ****** and head back to C5 if you're so bothered.

Christ.
