Dam that sucks, I feel for the guy. I just hope to god he got track insurance, or hes out quite a lot of money.

Add a little stupidity and carelessness and there you have it.

It's HARD to set up a car for both road and drag racing. Even if that car was stock, trying to impress friends with the line lock or doing a John Force style burnout each pass at the strip will wear the tires to shit.

That's why they make slicks and radials for the strip...and different style tread for the road race course.

It's just sort a lack of respect for the vehicle itself.
It appears you came to this thread just to troll, have some compassion for the poor guy. You know nothing about him, yet your writing a book acting like hes your friend.

I am not sure of the scenario for this guy, but you are right about the tires possibly being wore out.

People that have never done track days never think about "heat cycles". the more the tires go through them, the harder they get and become hockey pucks and loose their grip. This is regardless of tread depth

Hope this wasn't related to the dreaded steering issue some of us have experienced.

Not a total loss. The carbon fiber fuel cover looks OK.

ps. impossible to place blame on the poor person without the facts. I have been on the track enough to know sh*t happens. People get into the marbles going off line getting around another car and all of sudden, they have different traction. Something goes wrong with the car. Something slippery just spewed on the track by the car ahead. A lot of incidents are caused by the other cars.

Also the random steering input thread. Maybe the car was doing the steering thing that is still unresolved??

Not going to jump on the guy for an accident. Hope the track insurance rider was on his policy. If so, it'll be fixed. They make more every day.

A comment about his skill set or his financial status based on that photo, and before anyone even knew if he was OK, is pretty ignorant.

Yep. Just look at the ZL1 that bit it in the Nurb-ring. I sure GM didn't just pick a guy waiting outside to drive the car for them.

Yup, and that car was actually back on the track the very next day.

I saw a guy in a Aston Martin DB9 put it into the wall at Road America. Different group so we were watching from the side as it happened right in front of me. He was OK but it was a chilling thing to witness.

It sucks to watch a beautiful machine get torn up, if the driver walks away the car did it's job.

Anyone calling the guy dumb/inexperienced/stupid without the facts is an ass. Unless you were in the car when it happened you have no idea what was going on so quit being a d-bag.
