Takes some big nuts to track a car it's gotta be fun but man that's gotta hurt.

Sadly, rookie drivers can afford whatever they want nowadays.

According to the Facebook posts he was in the intermediate group:

Quote:
So here's what happened, his rear tires were pretty worn down do to the amount of drag racing he's been doing on the car, he took a turn at 104 mph and lost traction in the rear which caused him to colide into the wall. The driver is fine the car is at a total loss...
From what I understand he was coming over a rise that goes into a turn and ate sh1t.

No clue, honestly. But, I've been around long enough to see it time after time.

Anyone with a job, for the most part, can now get into a car with 400, 500, 600, 800 hp. No experiences or respect for the power.

Add a little stupidity and carelessness and there you have it.

It's HARD to set up a car for both road and drag racing. Even if that car was stock, trying to impress friends with the line lock or doing a John Force style burnout each pass at the strip will wear the tires to shit.

That's why they make slicks and radials for the strip...and different style tread for the road race course.

It's just sort a lack of respect for the vehicle itself.

I said that because even the most experienced drivers have accidents and it sounded like you were trying to say this guy is a rookie! For all we know it could have been Mario Andretti! stuff happens! Usually a Mustang guy trying to show off for his. Undies! Lol

Ouch….that is why I alway buy track insurance. Running in the intermediate group he should have some experience and not just be some random wahoo running the car. That being said if his tires were extremely worn he should have caught that on the pre track tech inspection. Its the drivers responsibility but maybe he thought they were good enough, maybe he pushed to hard, or maybe he hit something slick. Shit happens on the track.

Glad he is ok and hope he had the insurance.

Shit definately happens on a track as I said above and as Hammerhead15 said. In April at NCCAR an Instructor went off track in his new BMW and put it in the pond…..car was underwater….like completely underwater. VIR the beginning of this month a Viper went off at turn 1 and got pretty lucky…just cracked the front splitter. Sometimes its the driver…sometimes it's not. It is a a high risk activity to be certain.

EDIT: Rereading what our Mustang friend said, however, he does have a valid point. I use MT ET Street R's at the strip, I have tires for my street setup (Nitto 555R) on custom forged rims and 6 separate OEM rims and tires for the race track. Always inspect the car, bleed the brakes, etc…...

Damn... He really did a number on it...

PTM modes are your friend on the road track. I thought I was good enough to go full race mode a couple years ago and ended up doing 360's across the grass. Lucky there was no wall but it was back to PTM 3 for me.
