To me a big part of the problem is Chevy's God awful marketing campaigns. They have that dweeb that asks "real" people questions that just makes me want to gag! I think the most exciting ad I've seen is them throwing tool boxes into the back of their truck and Ford's to see who has the stronger box.

How about a shot of a ZL-1 roaring down that curved hill at Laguna Seca balls out.... They are not doing anything to excite people about these cars.

Cost is a huge issue too. In Canada a new 2SS is about 62000 which is nuts! So my humble 5th Gen shall remain in my stable of 1.

I don't see the "European" or sports car aesthetics a lot of the 5th gen naysayers refer to. It has all the styling references of the 5th gen with some refinement smoothed in. Still has the muscular stance and exaggerated hips of the 5. It is Camaro through and through from the second it fires up with popping V8 rasp in the morning. I get tons of looks, thumbs up from men, women, kids, and haven't had anyone ask me what it is. "Nice Camaro, man!"

Mid 30's for 2SS's are abundant. I almost bought used for 35 with 14k on it, but I found new for 2k more. It's a lot of car for the money and a hell of a lot of fun to drive.

Now I've heard the 6 gens called big mouth bass AND catfish mouth. Which one is it ?? Just joking to those who like them. I bought my 15SS right when the 16s came out. I could have had either one. I chose the 5th because of the look and 20% off was nice too!

They look fantastic, but I think the interior is a bit too busy. Also did not enjoy the smaller windshield... I thought it was tough to see out of a 5th gen lol

If this first Quarter pace result continues for the year, they will FAR exceed all Gen5 sales totals for each Year 2010 - 2015.
As I mentioned in above post, Camaro Gen6 is number one for April, outselling Mustang and Challenger.
2010: 81,299
2011: 88,249
2012: 84,319
2013: 80,567
2014: 80,567
2015: 77,502
2017: 96,140 <<< (estimate taking first quarter 24,035 results and multiplying by 4)

Exciting times, back in the 60's I never thought there would be a day when I would see a stock Camaro straight off the assembly line hit 200 MPH and handle like a Vette!
Am I missing something in the great sales figures being reported??? I'm seeing Gen6 most days on my short drive back and forth to work each day.
Seems like folks are doing the Jay slogan: "Buy all you want they'll make more" ;-)
Small problem with the math, Q1 is January - March. So you take that number of 15,298 (7052+4658+3588) x 4 = 61,192. If you take 24,035 x 3 (break the year into thirds) you get 72,105.

I'm also starting to see more and more around my area, but time will tell if the 6th gen can be as good of a seller as the 5th gen

I like the new body style better and If the money get anywhere close, I'd buy a gen 6 every time. I think the numbers that the new ZL1 is putting down brings attention to all Camaros!! If the new cars were slugs I probably would not have considered a Camaro at all. I like having a car that shares the namesake with something as badass as that. Even though I didn't even get close to buying the fast one. This is our test mule into the whole car thing. We didn't want to jump in with both feet until we knew how much we would use/like the car so we bought an economical model that we thought would provide the most entertainment. If we like this one, a Gen 6 is going to be square on the radar and it'll probably have 8 cylinders

I wish I could afford a new ZL1. It looks killer and has performance to boot!! Sadly, I must admit that I cannot afford the price tag.

I totally agree with you KenKat. People seem to bandwagon on GM's side with reasons as to why the price increases with the 6th...but ya know what? I'm happy with the 5th Gen. They can say the 6th gen handles so much better, the interior is much nicer quality, etc etc. But hey, guess what? You're paying out the nose for it.

They increased prices on the 5th Gen too through out it's lifecycle. They updated some things and smoothed some rough edges, but IMO not enough to justify the raised price every year from '10 to '15.

2010 2SS: started at $34K
2015 2SS: started at $37.3K Not horrible, but that's almost a 10% increase.
2016 2SS: started at $41.3K A $4k jump....for what? Mag ride isn't even standard.

Instead of adding more and more content and raising prices ever more, how about an even cheaper 1SS? That would bolster sales more than reshuffling the inexpensive models. Mustang LX 5.0s sold very well back in the day with that formula.

I think this was the plan all along. Jack the prices way up initially to see how many people bit and if it's sustainable. If not, lower them back down a bit to appease shoppers. In the end the prices will still be significantly higher than they were for '15.

I don't know what to say to you guys I've gotten nothing but compliments since I've got my 2017 RS hyper blue metallic six-cylinder 6M Camaro. It is insanely fast for a 6 cylinder I mean insanely fast LS1 4th gen fast. Convertible automatic 5th gen fast. I don't see why there's so much hate on this site it's crazy.

...10% over 5 years -vs- over 10% in one year... insane!

I do like the 6th Gen in the ZL1 and ZL1 1LE look, the others just don't do it for me.

Kind of the same thing with the 5's. The ZL1 is gorgeous while the rest of the line is a bit on the fat-aunt looking side. Had ZL1 parts on my '10 and dropped it an inch. Have to do the same for my '14. It looks so dull otherwise.

To all the 6th gen guys saying they get compliments ....waves and thumbs up guess what? So do I lol on an old design. It didnt matter what the next Camaro looked like...chevy would have a hard time beating the huge success that is the 5th gen. Everything your experiencing is a been there done that for 5th gen guys. Im a big believer that the right colour makes a big difference. When ive seen a black or silver 6th gen they just blend in with alot of cars on he road. Sure they have a hint of 5th gen body style but the the overall lool is just to common. Sure it has grest performance qualities but ive said it before.....it just doesnt seem to have the road presence of the 5th gen. It doesnt have the muscle car look anymore. Say what you want about that old 5th gen.....but people really like the way that car looks. Now the 6th gen zl1 is a beast....if i ever look at going another route that would be my next car......and yes my 5th gen would still be in the garage. It will be the 57 chevy of the Camaro world.
