Hi All, my short story:
After losing a special order 5 weeks in waiting with my local dealer (think they lied about having allocation and it just sat at 1100) and then receiving a GM card offer in the mail for an extra $1250 off I decided to make one last shot at this car before it would have to be a wait on a 2018.
I spoke to a guy at Chevy corporate and found out there were TWO remaining HBM SS1LE's remaining in inventory in the country. One in Kalispell, MT and the other in New Orleans, LA. The very next day I was scheduled to have a work layover in New Orleans just 11 miles away from the dealer....so I ubered over, took a look at the car and found it was pristine. The dealer was willing to negotiate it down a bit and ended up walking out 16% off the MSRP of 46,750. We had a 2016 Mazda Mx-5 Club w/ Brembos that we just weren't being able to love despite several fun autocross events that we sold beforehand.....it was just that the little 2.0L and the convertible wind noise weren't very exhilarating or all-weather accomodating. I test drove a 2016 2SS red hot/kalihari when they first came out and was smitten. I clearly wasn't able to shake the impressive tech and the snarl of that 6.2L from my system despite my best attempts with a much cheaper 4-banger alternative.

The new ride: Has PDR, illuminated sills, wheel locks, and a camaro cargo mat. I've added a mishimoto catch can (at dealer before driving 300mi home), zl1-addons rock guards, and detailed with Klasse AIO/Sealant. I blacked out the bow-ties with 3m vinyl and the 1LE war stripe is arriving by mail TONIGHT! Definitely a dream car

Here are some pics, just 500mi into ownership and I am head over heels with this thing. It's so dang capable, comfortable and impressive with its features for the price. Another 1K to go and then it's motor/differential oil change and off to the races. Thanks for all the great info on this sub-forum that I've been ravenously consuming and look forward to posting more!

great price, i was at 41,500. Black bowties, illuminated front bow tie, PDR (is that an option or standard?), trickle charger, blah blah...it was same MSRP as yours.

So...are those illuminated door sills part of an option? Just curious, I installed my own though.

Thanks! PDR is an option, and so was the illuminate door sills (LPO). Is the trickle charger an installed option somewhere under the hood?

That's funny. I had been eyeing that very car for about a month, and had multiple phone calls to the dealer, and they absolutely refused to budge from around 43,000.

at 16% you got them down to 39,2?

How'd you manage that?

Sorry to hear that umby. I had supplier discount, GM card rebate of $1250 just for using the card, and about a grand in points racked up on the card itself.

That was a good price. For 2017 PDR wasn't an option, it was a required option if you wanted the 1LE package.

I love the smoked tail lights and red seat belts, but $450ish for each seems a touch steep at this point to me. Maybe some day
