I can't justify buying either! I couldn't justify spending $5k-$10k more for a 2SS over my GT. When it comes down to money, a foxbody is going to wipe the floor with everything when it comes to $$/performance. That doesn't mean I'm going out any buying one.

And....again, the GT350R actually beat the Zl1 in this head to head.

What did the GT350R win? It won nothing. It was picked. Just like in college sports, they are subjective winners in a lot of areas. In the Pro's, they win by scores.

So then this win for the GT350R is really an amateur win, because they were picked, not earned.

You nor I have any idea how close or far the two tires are, so let's stop pretending they are the deciding factor here.

There have been many examples of R's going for at or close to MSRP. Word on the street is, they are going to be release quite a few more (to the displeasure of current R owners) for 2018. You most certainly can't buy 2 or 3 of them unless your one of the suckers that wanted the first R on the block.

I'm saying it's not impressive that just because a car is down that much power on the track that it can keep up. HP does not pay those kinds of dividends on the track like it does the strip. The GT350R has been and still is impressive to me on the track. So is the 5th gen Z/28. But like you I can't get really excited about either because they are unobtainable by me.

We can't rule it out as a contributing factor just like we can't prove it was not. But we can certainly wait to see what the ZL1 1LE does with it's new setup, for the same price. No more need for either of us to

No ADM for an R is news to me, I'd love to see a dealer advertising it. I'd believe someone negotiated the ADM off though.

I think a better analogy would be figure skating. The one figure skater was faster, stronger, and could do more loopdie loops, but they picked the other one because she had more personality while she skated.

Gotcha. When the Camaro comes out ahead in head to heads or objective comparisons, it's a winner. When a mustang does the same, it's not.

I just everyone would stop trying to find out why they think the Zl1 unperformed....or why they thought Randy was driving too slow....or why anyone would objectively pick one over the other.

As for admin, I've heard of quite a few that were able to snag them at dealers, and many that were able to get them for $5k-$10k tops over. Granted they weren't the first kids on the block with the car, but those who were patient and were willing to travel for a deal.

Pretty impressive to me that the straight line/ GT car beats the all out track car on the track. The ZL1 beat the GT350R in every category, if that didn't cause it to win, nothing would. If someone was going to give me one of the two I would not hesitate to take the GT350R. It really is a special car. Just like the 14-15 Z/28 from last gen. If I am paying for the car(at actual street prices) I take the Zl1 without question. It literally does everything better. The ZL1 1LE is going to be crazy.

Probably if the 350R time wise lost by 3 seconds, they would still pick the 350R as the winner.

The GT500 lost to the gen5 ZL1 in Head to Head because it was a shitty GT car. Mission one. Secondly, it relied on power to overcome the shortcomings of its chassis. In this case, the ZL1 did everything brilliantly.

Did sound, feel, and specialness propel one car 0.40 seconds into the future or...?? So were we racing cars today or looking at them and touching them? I'm sorry, was this a Motr Trend car show? because if a car can win a track test based off of looks, feel, and specialness, should Hellcats win every car show because they are faster? So if I said "Hey MotorTrend, which car is faster?"...would they point to the one that they think has looks, feels, and specials...?? If I race for pinks and lose the race but my car looks better, feels better, and is more "special", then did I really win?? Can we enter subjective comments into the scores of track results from now on? I mean come on, lol!! That is a very shallow win for the Ford boys. It's kinda like when a hott chick wears a mini skirt and halter top with a choker to school and fails a math test but the teacher kinda gives her a B-...or when the fat kid comes in dead last in a foot race but they give him a medal because he really tried...and his mom is super hott. I haven't watched the H2H yet( will wait when it is on youtube since free), but I expected the results. Why? Because the GT350R screams special car while the ZL1 is just a damn good car. Nothing to detract from the ZL1, but the R is special. The comparison is definitely apples vs oranges in terms of intent of both vehicles. The R is a purpose built track vehicle while the ZL1 is a GT. The more appropriate comparison will be the ZL1 1LE( and/or if there is one, a 6th gen Z/28).

In terms of what I would buy.... If it was going to be a daily driver, easily the ZL1. It is a have your cake and eat it too. Can be comfortable and yet is still a very very capable vehicle on the track. If it was going to be a second/weekend car, probably would lean GT350R.

You had to know the subjective specialness of the GT350R was going to tip the scale in its favor.
