Curiosity: why does this product exist

I've seen this and pondered about it, what differences could it make / help?

Anyone know or heard of our car heat soaking and/or pulling timing losing power significantly in traffic, on track or summer heat?

All cars lose power somewhat but others benefit from relocating the sensor to cooler areas around the car. This applies greaty some mustangs and sportbikes I know dyno and suffer from bad sensor placement oem.

This necessary with ours here for 35$?

that is probably for a engine or intake swap were the factory harness doesnt reach the IAT on the new engine.

IF you relocate the IAT sensor, you can fool the computer into thinking its cooler than it is. IAT dictates timing advance and retard above and beyond certain limits. To hot and it will pull timing etc.

Its not needed, I had an e39 M5 were this used to do wonders... The OEM placement was horrible. Even at cruising with ambient 70 degree temps the IAT would be 110+. This care does not have that problem. Besides it can be modified in the tune.

I have this done on my GTO. It would heatsoak horribly. Now I'm rarely above ambient unless I'm sitting extensively.

Seeing as the stock IAT is almost in the airbox I don't see this doing much at all.
