Road and Track Review of V6 1LE

Maybe I missed it, but I don't see this linked anywhere?

It is amazing to me how far under the radar the V6 1LE has become. You can find them for under $30k, and that is a lot of car for the money.

I found this V6 1le at Koons for 29k

https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...9090/overview/

I'm in the market for a Gen5 1le but I cant find them for less than 30k. Sometimes I think about just going and picking up this v6 for 29.

If you go to Koons, ask for Bakary. He helped me out and was super cool to deal with. Unfortunately, management wouldn't play ball on price. I actually tried to buy that very car on Saturday. They wouldn't budge on price, even though I showed them what Criswell was selling their V6 1LEs for. So, I went to Criswell on Saturday evening and bought my car for $8k off sticker on a super bonus tag discount.

Criswell Gaithersburg had a yellow gen5 1le for $26,xxx over the weekend. It had like 15k miles and was a 2015. It started at around $29k. Koons Ford had a 2SS 2015 1LE with under 15k miles a few weeks ago. It was listed at $29,xxx. Sold pretty quick. If you are patient, you can find a mint gen5 1le car or V6 1le for under $30k.

I know, I saw the one at koons and by the time I looked into it, it was sold. Its all about timing and soon i'll find one. I could travel outside my area but that's just not practical and convenient. I have a 10 month old and doing Spring house/property maintenance, so my weekends are pretty busy. I'm hoping for a relatively local find!

thanks

Man, you guys are super lucky with your bonus tags and discounts. Dealerships are only ordering loaded 2LT 1LEs in Canada. On top of that, most are only offering the $1,500 manufacturer discount, which makes the price $4,000 less than a 2SS. Oh Canada.

You bought the car that I thought was the best deal on the web. It has Recaros, right?

I don't get the reluctance of people to travel for a killer deal. I mean, $8000 is $8000. Even with it being a three day drive from where I live, I would fly to the east coast on some crappy low rent airline, buy a car and drive it back. Figure $300 for the flight, $300 for three cheap hotels along the way, 50 cents a mile for 1700 miles - $850 for gas/oil/tires. ~$1500 vs. a $5-8000 savings? Plus you have a three day adventure.

Somebody who has the V6 1LE, can you compare the ride to other cars you own?

I'm interested because the R&T review said a harsh ride on the street. My tolerance for a harsh ride is high but I was curious what you think. Roads in NJ are far from perfect by the way.

From 120mph to 130 mph, something must have happened. Such a slowdown... There no way top speed could be 155 given that anomaly. Glitch, gearing, what?

A switch to a gear too tall to pull at that speed and wind resistance?

I think the ride is relatively good for a sports car. It is much softer than the 2013 BMW 135i MSport that I sold a couple years ago. It's a hair more compliant than my Cayman S. Definitely more refined than our Honda Element. Dramatically softer riding than an Evo. Much more compliant than an 2017 SS 1LE too. I don't think you'd think it's too stiff if you are used to sporty cars. My 82-year-old mother has ridden in it once and commented that she liked it because you don't "feel the road" as much as in my other past sports cars. I commute 20 miles into Washington, DC in mine and it's fine. A regular SS with MRC is probably better riding, but this isn't bad at all. I also think the shifter/clutch is very good, contrary to what that article says.
