Pwells,

We recommend checking with your dealer about your warranty in relation to modifications. Our kit is a pretty simple install, and will bolt on with NO tune or any other modifications required!

Below is the link for Phastek Performance's LIVE install video of our 2017+ ZL1 CAI:

If you have any more CAI questions, I would be glad to help!

Michael

Warranty replacement of a major drivetrain component item will need to be approved by gm, they ask for a flash count on the ecu and the dealer is required to submit it.

So a cai you can probably install without a problem, just let your dealer know. Tuning is where you might run into problems. Generally thats only if it has a major failure which is not already well known, which is rare.

All and all they have a pretty good policy and generally speaking if you blow something and it's your fault it's not covered, if it's not your fault you are covered. There are not to many major hard part failures that are not well known issues (ie torque converter in a8 and afm lifter failure)

I actually have never owned a car under warranty! Currently drive a 2000 Ford Ranger 4x4 and it has treated me well.

I'm sure you will get more input from forum members who have had warranty work done. You may also drop a line to Becky @ Rodgers Chevrolet. Though I have not personally worked with them, they are forum sponsors and I have heard nothing but great things about them.

"We know when somebody changes their ECM calibration and we know if they changed to a cold-air intake, we can tell all that. But driving it as you break it in from the dealership, if you have a half-shaft or whatever, it's covered."

It really does not matter what is really right or what GM thinks: BECAUSE YOUR DEALER CAN SAY NO, and it will not be worth it to try and get him to change his mind.

So what to do? Go interview your dealer service manager and ask, or find a dealer that says ok.

I asked mine what they would do, he said no problem with the CAI as long as it didn't have a tune. He also said if they have to flash the ECM, he couldn't guarantee anything. It is dealer to dealer but once GM gets involved it could be different.

As has been discussed on C5 and here on C6...depends on the mod and depends on the dealer, and of course GM

It's a beautiful piece, but not worth it in my opinion.

The service manager at Classic Chev told me that if a part has a GM part number, it is covered and will not void your warranty. Not so with Ford, even if a Ford dealer installs Ford parts from Ford Performance with Ford part numbers, it will void your warranty for the parts it replaces or affects.
