I just bought one of these control panels off eBay seeing you are making a success of this. Thank you sir for your time and effort and I will continue to follow this write up. Cheers!

You can do a direct swap with the 2ss controls but the fan will remain on auto speed and must be adjusted through the radio for those not wanting to take circuit boards and switches apart. I drove like that for a few hours before deciding to take everything apart again and see about swapping things around. Edit: just had another idea to simplify install. Hold on for this. Would be swap two parts and wire. Last edited by Summit1le1ss; 05-14-2017 at 01:46 PM. |

Great work, unfortunately it just seems way too involved for me to want to dive into it.
Maybe when you post the step by step DIY it might make it seem easier, but wow, that's a ton of work - End product is sweet no doubt.

Great research Summit1le1ss!
High Level recap as I think I presently understand it reading the tea leaves pending the full write-up: 0. Seats have everything we need already in them to work. Cooling fans, heaters, seat module and harness with all wiring and the seat harness pins needed are already there from Recaro. 1. You added wiring harnesses for both driver and passenger seat from BCM? to seats- added wires to body harness - approx. 10 conductors and pins for body harness? Again, seat harness complete and we all have this in our seats already. 2. You swapped in 2SS HVAC switch panel for switches and changed the switch circuit board behind the physical switches for signals that come from the switches before going into BCM. Switch board to BCM connector identical? Looks like defrost/defog switches may stay 1SS and plug into the board directly? Wonder if you swapped 2SS fan speed controller over that it would work from the 2SS buttons as well as the 1SS passenger ring? 3. HVAC BCM (driver underdash - same BCM as for door sill lighting tap?) same across all Camaros so no need to change that out. No reprogramming nor re-flash needed. Just need BCM pin-outs for the added seat heater and cooler wiring. Seems straightforward enough. I will probably do this once I find the time. Now a really interesting side question - are the dual zone HVAC dampers, actuators, etc. also already in place under the dash in the ducting to make that function also? Doubtful as those seem to be significant cost parts vs. standardizing like apparently done in the BCM (software). If they are leaving out 10 body harness wires, you can pretty much bet none of the dual zone HVAC guts exist, but crazy if they did.

2ss ac controls. Dual zone HVAC module ( optional but saves a lot of wiring for fan to work as should ) 6 wires from pass harness to driver's side 3 wires, 2 from rear fuse to pass side harness, 1 from front fuse to pass side. 2 wires, 1 from rear fuse box, 1 from front to driver's side. 1 wire from BCM to pass side There is another way, the way I did, but involves more. This should cut it down for those not wanting to mess around with circuit board and so forth. You will also need the terminals for the fuse panels and harness. Radio, dash, rear seats, center console and front seats will need to be removed, not difficult but time consuming. I still looking for the correct GM terminals. I just haven't had the time. All-in-all I have $250 invested and about 2 hours of install. Hours researching ... Countless... Lol. I have one other idea I believe will work and simplefy things a bit, but won't test til I have terminals and some free time. The entire evap box is different for dual ac control cars. It's only $80, but requires a lot more work, including discharging the ac and draining coolant and major disassembley, plus a new harness. My first experience everything worked fine with the 2ss controls other than the fan speed. The ac stayed on auto and could only control the fan speed via the radio. Also, the 2ss pass side windows reads temps, so once I changed all the CB out it was trying to read the bars in a screen designed for numbers. If it's not 100%, it's not for me. I'm on version 4 now and solving issues each time. GM is not very forth coming with information, even the ac Delco tech site I'm using lacks info. Hvac module isbpass side under dash, way in the back. Has 4 harness, small black box. X6#9 wire on BCM. Net2bus. I promise I will write all this up with pictures. Once complete. This is the BCM. Sixth harness over, pink one. |
