I made my appointment 3 months before receiving the car. And it was at the detailer for 2 weeks as they wrap all the edges and check for lifting over several days while kept inside. They removed badges, trim pieces, and spoiler end parts to install the plastic underneath, then re-apply the parts. I got front bumper and headlights, front fenders, lower sills, lower doors, and entire rear fender leading all the way to A-pillar base (no lines visible). It turned out OK I think:

On the Expel Site it says you need to pour 120 degree water on it. I know others require a low-temp heat gun.

I contacted Chevy and they basically told me it's not their problem because it isn't a manufacturing defect. Although I consider a defect in that I was driving the car completely normal on paved roads with no snow/salt/sand, just driving to work occasionally. I think it's completely unacceptable, and added on to it is the fact that a few friends have pointed it out to me before I even said anything, and that's embarrassing. The factory PPF is a joke and only covers about 1/3 of the paint, but even still, the PPF seems to scratch just as easily as the paint so it's somewhat useless unless you want to be replacing it every few hundred miles.

I ended up installing some factory "mud guards" which I'm hoping stops any further damage.

Could you let me know where you got these please?

Notice the abrasive debris stuck to the tire and even covering the floor. This after washing?

I'd be looking at eliminating that stuff on the floor and stuck to the tire.

It appears our black cars definitely show the worst of it for sure.

These tires pick up anything and everything. That is why I put these side splitters on right after I brought it home. http://6ledesigns.com/product/2016-c...ide-splitters/ Couple days after the install I ran into some DOT work on the road I was on. Gravel all over the place and even though I slowed down I could here that terrible sound of rocks hitting the underside of the car. Got home and checked the car over and found nothing. With out a doubt the best money I have ever spent on this thing.

The splitters will be a huge help. We have the same problem with the Corvettes. Apparently the hourglass shape that allows the front tire bottom to be outside the body is an aerodynamic design feature that GM is proud of, but exacerbates the chipping problem. With the Corvette that full length side splitter is a huge help. Some have even taken relatively inexpensive truck rock guards and cut them down and added them to the area behind the front wheel. And most everyone if wrapping the area behind the door up to at least the top of the wheel well. And of course the sticky tires make the chipping even worse.

I personally do like the look of the side splitters on the link you provided
Nice to hear it saved you. Does this do away with the need for mudflap/rock guards. Or have you installed those as well, the photo on the link looks like you probably couldn't have both? Both would offer more protection.

Besides the splitters I also have these https://www.rpidesigns.com/shop/item...rds---stealth/ on the front and these http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-GM-2016-...Model%3ACamaro on the back. So far this combination has worked very well.

I just got a quote from a top notch paint restorer for $3,600 to bring both sides back to like new condition. I am getting the hood re-raped with satin and the shop (StickerDude) in IL. is going to design a satin rock guard to tie the front splitter, rockers, up and over rear wheel well to the rear spoiler , it will cover all the damage and prevent further damage next week I hope. I will post pics as soon as I can.

Well guys, after two full track days and 1,700 miles I'm happy to report that the zl1 add-ons delux guards seem to be doing their job. No additional rock chips.

Very grateful to you guys, I started to see the micro chips during the first weekend of ownership with just normal driving around town. An order for the guards was first priority. Easy enough install with the wheels pulled. The only issue I had was the right side tape came loose on the second track day, probably due to 120+mph.

After getting home I pulled the front guards off, added new 3m outdoor tape, and drilled a small hole in the middle of the guard to allow a small bolt to be added for additional support. After measuring placement for very small hole in the liner, you can pull the fender liner out a little (with the single plastic clip removed) and reach your hand behind to push a small bolt through with fender washer for extra surface area. You can also add an extra screw from the front side of the guard for the extra support that would screw into the liner material. Either way seems to work. I personally don't mind having the small nut showing on the guard side. The fender material will help hold the bolt in position as you fit the guard into place.

Just happy to report that they seem to be keeping the rocks and small chips in front of the rear wheels down to a minimum if at all.

I would definitely still use blue tape or put something more permanent on the 1/4 panels if you go on a track. I have the ZL1 Deluxe guards as well and here is a thread that shows what the tape looked like after a recent track day. They definitely help, but stuff is still hitting the 1/4 panels

I'd hate to be raped with satin, especially twice
