That's why I'm really only interested in the ZL1. There's no comparison there, of course. I'm fairly certain it would be a good daily too, if I could switch the tires out. |

Room is at a premium, but if it can fit what you take on your daily drive, it is perfect... and will keep a smile on your face. Also no real concern for speed bumps and driveways, unlike with my GT3. That car wants to scrape on everything. Ps. The only reason I am going with 19" is the greater selection in race rubber and in the winter, tires that can stand the cold.

I can weigh in from an Audi perspective. I just came from a B8.5 Stage 2 Audi S4 making around 385 AWHP. Loved that car until the end - put over 111k miles on it in less than 5 years, tuned since 19k miles. Absolute rock star of a daily driver. I had heartache moving from a lineage of German autos to an American pony car...until I saw the ZL1.
This car is an order of magnitude different than anything the German manufacturers are doing at this price point. I look at an Audi RS7 Performance making 605hp from a TT V8 and just think that for $65k less I can have a car that would rival its performance in multiple domains. The German brands abandoned their mid-level enthusiast base, Uncle Sam stepped in with some very attractive options. I couldn't wait for them to come back to me. Love the one you're with.

I came from a 2016 M3 that I had for eight months to my 2017 ZL1 M6. Simply put, the M3 was soulless and the ZL1 ignites the soul.

I won't disagree with that at all. Just would drive ME nuts to daily drive it, also in a major part because I want to keep it pristine. I would obsess too much!

I worked for the Germans (Porsche and BMW) for 30 years on the corporate side. Kinda nice having a 911 and 6 series as my company demo. My take is all you might miss is the build quality of the Germans, it's just a tighter spec than GM. But I'd take a zl1 all day long as the fun/cash outlay value is more realistic. The Germans are out of their minds on some of their high-end stuff, in regards to where they price them, IMO.

I hear ya. I just bought a truck to drive when it rains cuz I am tired of detailing the car 5 times a week here in Florida (its rainy season).

The "race car" never sees rain. She only gets to listen to it in the garage.

Drove a bimmer for 10 years, loved it while warranty was active, hated it when it was up. It's like they flip a switch and everything starts falling apart. It was my DD, although the ZL1 is not, I could DD it if I had to. All in all, I'd not even dream of driving a BMW ever again, I'd only ride one....their bikes are amazing!

It is refreshing to be on here and the Camaro guys/girls are more accepting of other opinions/cars, which to me seems that the intellectual level(not bashing) could be higher here. Just my 2.315435677 cents worth.

Feels good over some bumpy New England roads, although the tires are no-compromise summer tires that are stiff and also make quite a bit of road noise, which is much higher than SS. Tour setting is nice and compliant but the issue is the tires, so may need to switch to a more A/S tire such as DWS06 but expect a drop in razor sharp responses... Also agree re. car height, doesn't scrape and no issues with speed bumps unlike GT350 (!) Heated/cooled seats nice but interior less special than 2SS in adrenaline red... despite gobs of "suede"... saw somebody with red knee pads in ZL1 looked sharp... maybe an option |

Saw some talk of switching to 19" rims and tires for better selection, etc. I love the 20" rims so not sure I would do that unless the tire choices really suck. Is there anyone running Michelin Pilot Sports or SuperSports 285/305s on this car? Impressions? Want a sticky tire but want 20K+ miles out of it...is this possible if I don't get on it all the time (like that will happen)?
Also wouldn't going to a 19" rim/tire lower the front splitter? Already paranoid about that thing, not sure I would want it any lower. Thanks for responses.
