GM supplier discount code

Hi...
So I'm planning on getting a 2017 2SS soon..., and my first choice is at a dealer a few miles away from me, when I inquired about GM supplier pricing they told me they would only honor it and give it to me if i had a GM supplier code. I have purchased alot of newcars and never had a dealer tell me this. Normally they say, yes no problem as one of our salespeople or managers can get you that, Supplier price i mean its not a Hot commodity like a ZL1, are they just being dicks? My problem is its optioned exactly the way i want, so although i can go with another dealer i will have to compromise alot on color, options.anybody have any insight or want to msg me a code? I sure would appreciate it. I mean I have been pricing corvettes too, and every dealer has offered me supplier if not employee discount on the corvettes.
Thanks.

I've also checked and even though I work for a large company, they are not on GM supplier

My understanding is you will need some type of verification. I had to produce a pay stub from the Company that I worked for on a Jeep Grand Cherokee. I had a neighbor who offered me to use his "friend and family" discount and that required a code. I do not think the dealer was playing games with you.

Yes I needed a code and a pay stub, wouldn't even take my badge. They were sticklers.

I never used it before as I was always able to negotiate a better price (GM, Cadillac and Ford). They wouldn't come off my 2SS near as much. I did get them to come off Supplier pricing by abt $1k, then the $1k rebate. I was told (and it seems true) that the markup on Camaros is much less percentage-wise than vettes, truck, suvs, etc.

Thanks for the info, the only reason it bothers me with this dealership is that I have gotten written quotes from other dealers on similar 2ss camaros and they all have me the supplier price at my request. No code or questions asked. I get the, Chrysler, Ram, Dodge and Ford employee pricing so that no supplier discount story on this camaro just frustrates me.

They were giving you a price that equaled supplier pricing but not actually giving you supplier. As others have said you have to qualify for the code before they can do it and it's mostly a GM thing and not on your dealer. GM will require proof before they can give it to you.

Thanks, that is what I figured, but that means in essence this dealer does not want or think they need my business, as I have never heard of a dealership not moving off Msrp one penny. , unless its a very high demand vehicle...ie early years Hellcat, this years zl1, etc...Apparently, they think they can sell it for full Msrp to someone else..., so that's fine with me I will take my business elsewhere .

some dealers often advertise that they are " selling cars at suplier rates" and terms such as that . and thats on the dealer side . If you go into a dealer say chevy and tell them that you get the supplier price . then yes then they ( GM not the dealer ) need to know that you do qualify for the pre determined discount rate off the car . Years ago a friend that worked at ford could get me a " employee family member discount " It required the employee to get a code at the ford plant that they work at ..... and it had to be listed out who the buyer was in the initial code when being submited by ford . you only had like less then 1 week to buy the car once the code was activated . At that time each employee was allowed 2 codes per year . regardless if the car was bought . . some dealers didnt like to deal with this because it was a much lower profit sale others liked them becuse of the higher volumes they would get

Exactly... and now it's your choice next time you need a truck or a Malibu as to which dealer you choose.

The one that wouldn't offer the GM discounts or the one like Rodgers Chevrolet that always does.

Yeah, I agree, Becky and Rodgers have always been first class in my contact with them, I was trying to avoid having to do a dealer trade and have them find me the vehicle I wanted, instead I thought I would just deal with another dealer myself...my mistake. Unfortunately Rodgers on hand units for 2ss camaro has been pretty sparce lately, so I didn't have alot of choices as far as what the have instock.
