Slightly off topic but how do you feel about the Red Hot color? In my time there we found a decently priced one from across the country that they could potentially bring in if I want it. It's spec-ed exactly the way I prefer (Black wheels, MRC, NPP, 2SS) with no extra non-sense but I was leaning more towards the garnet rather. Thinking of pulling the trigger on that one after the test drive but I'm torn on whether the red hot really looks that great or not. I looked at the Chevy Cruze in red hot and it looked pretty plain jane and almost girly.

My idiotic dealership would not allow me to test drive a corvette. They told me no because they want no mileage on the vettes.

the only thing that's idiotic about that is that they dont have 1 designated as the "test drive car". Otherwise i'm sure the people actually buying a vette and dont need to know how it drives because they already know and have already decided that they're buying the car are going to love having one that wasn't red-lined brand new by various people.

My 2015 1SS was red hot. I specifically didn't want red but I got a really good deal on it used with 1060 miles on the odometer. My advice is if you aren't a bright red person, hold out and get the color you really want. Nothing worse than buying something because you aren't patient and then regretting it later.

I drove that car for about 8 months thinking I would get use to the red and I never did. I traded it in about a month ago on a 2017. I got a great deal on the 2017 (about 9 under MSRP) but I am still out more money then I would have been if I would have been more patient and bought exactly what I wanted the first time.

The red hot is a gorgeous car. It just didn't fit my personality.

By the way the dealer I bought mine from has several 1SS and 2SS on the lot and they are basically all 8-9K off MSRP. If you want their info PM me.

Never had a problem with test drives. Did one a week before I purchased my 17SS.

This was the only reason I could see a dealer deferring, especially if they have high schoolers with a fresh license and starry Camaro eyes, but even in those cases, most dealers would be savvy enough to invite you back with your co-signer.

In defense of dealers, I sold cars briefly when I was in my twenties. You get people who come in, are upside down on their car, and want to go for an extended drive off of any recommended route.

It's the equivalent of kidnapping.

My dealer would let a 21 year old test drive a ZL1 in the snow. Never heard of any dealer doing that. They all want you to test drive it. They get more sales that way.

Full 1LE suspension, with BMR adjustable sway bars and links, GM aluminum cradle bushings, Hurst shifter with lighter reverse spring, TWM shifter knob, Tick level 1 transmission. I should have bought a ZL1

I test drove cars I was interested in with no issues. Speak to the floor manager if you have this issue ever again. These salesmen don't know any better.

It's personal taste thing IMO but I love red hot! I get compliments on the color pretty much everyday. One thing is for sure that photos don't do justice to this color, in person so much better!

My dealership did not allow test drives of the Corvettes or V8 Camaros. Personally, I thought that was reasonable based on their location. They get a lot of joyride requests and the miles (hard miles) would add up on their premium vehicles.
I ordered a V8 car and was certainly permitted to test drive MY CAR once it arrived.
I think test drives are basically a sales gimmick anyway unless you get to keep the car for a few days.
