Is this a media / invite only event? I live pretty close by and wouldn't mind stopping by to check out some cool stuff.

I was able to get my 2010 Camaro, my 2012 ZL1, and my 2014 Stingray from the same dealer with no issues. How do I even know my dealer will ever get an allocation for a 2018 ZL1 1LE? I will be at the GM sponsored event at VIR next week, 10 May. I plan to ask GM there why my dealer cannot sell me a car?

You mean the GM event at VIR on 10 and 11 May? I was invited by my dealership to run my car there for the day. Not sure what the policy is for Visitors. I am running my car on 10 May.

Yeah, I didn't see anything of the VIR calender for it, only motorcycles on north course and the skidpad. Which dealer if you don't mind me asking. Ask them if they want any more volunteers haha.

It is too late. The Dealer had to get the participants names in by a certain date. Then GM sent out the packets to each person.

Anyone on here have any real-world pics of this new monster Camaro?

No dealer or factory pics ... More like real world/reality images taken from a real Camera?

Don't forget that 750 will be snapped up by every rich oil kid and Chinese bankers.
Those demographic categories mentioned typically buy something German or Italian....not American, so don't worry, they won't drain the ZL1/ZL1 1LE supply. If they did buy American it would be more along the line of a Ford GT, GT350R, or possibly a Demon (just as a toy)...if it is under $100K, it's too probably too cheap for them...like an average working person buying a Geo Metro....

...750 ZL1 1LEs seems like alot...especially considering it is using the same powerplant as the "standard" ZL1...with the same stats 650/650. The 750 is just for ZL1 1LEs, plus the number of standard ZL1s as well. Once the reviews come out about how much stiffer the ride is vs the Mag ride in the standard ZL1, it will really hurt sales as most ZL1 buyers will not be doing "road" track days where they would most benefit from that awesome suspension. And if you don't want that suspension, you are kind of wasting your time with a ZL1 1LE, since you can purchase all of the aero/visual parts separately and bolt them on to your standard ZL1 and look like a 1LE but still enjoy the comfort of your mag ride suspension. I have always thought that was a contributing factor of why so many Z28s sat and collected dust. Those cars are just dedicated racecars for road courses...Road Courses. I have had the luck of being able to drive several Z28s and as much as they are a pleasure on a road course, they are extremely punishing on the average street. You will not survive driving through the pot holes of SoCal day after day, ...you will get bruises all over. Not every sports car buyer is looking for a dedicated track car. I randomly found a dozen or so used Z28s for sale online. Most had less than 5K miles on them, some less than 3K....that says alot. I am guessing...and hoping, the new DSSV will be a little more refined, since these are technically "street cars", but since the ZL1 1LE is marketed as a track weapon, I guess it's supposed to be very stiff...and painful...lol

Can't agree with the "painful" and "bruises" comments ...I've daily driven DSSV for the past two years. BUT - the rest is right on the money, I think...

The car won't be for everyone, and so I'm not sure everyone will be buying one - 750 units probably won't be a big deal in the big picture.

I think there was a black one at NCM for the Corvette Bash.. I swore it was posted in a thread on here, but now I can't find it for some reason.

Maybe someone else can.

So how is this dedicated ordering cycle work? My dealer called me today and stated he will be able to order the ZL1 1LE this week. Is it first come, first serve based on how GM receives orders from all dealers in the country? Or is it based on some other factor like how many cars the dealer moves a year (high volume), etc. As for my dealer, he says I will be getting his first one, whenever that is.

I personally think the 750 will sell fast if the Nurburgring times are really good for this car. Just for reference here, fastest GM car is Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 at 7:19.63. Fastest american car is Dodge Viper SRT-10 ACR at 7:12.13. If the ZL1 1LE can get a time in between those cars, it would place it around top 15 in the nurburgring lap times. That to me is an incredible achievement and an accolade that Chevy can brag about. I have a feeling that it will certainly grab a lot of peoples attention. Especially for a car under $80k.

If it is able to achieve a top 15 time, why would the BMW or Porsche people not consider a ZL1 1LE? For the price it will sell for, it will be a steal. In some cases, it might complement their BMW or Porsche nicely. Furthermore, it might even draw people from Ford and Dodge. Some of those Chargers and Challengers sell close to $70k already. So the market is there if some of them decide to try the ZL1 1LE.

So in summary, I can see a scenario where these cars are snapped up quickly and if the demand is high enough, selling for ADM. With Chevy limiting to 750, it could happen. 750 may sound like alot, but when you have perspective buyers from BMW, Porsche, Ford, Dodge, Chevy Corvette, and Camaro loyalists, it can sell pretty quick.

To the best of my knowledge, the ordering cycle does in fact open this Thursday the 11th however, how many and to whom are still not known.
