How many videos have we watched of the same thing. Why doesn't the simple rule of "don't accelerate in a turn" not sink in?? I was going to head up there last night too. Was the turn out good?

As fun as it is to rag on Mustang guys, we all know this can happen to anyone. But that live rear axle on the older models made it so much easier.

On the way to work the other day, I decided to get frisky and turn off my TC and Stabilitrak. Dropped the car into TapShift mode. Making a left hand turn I hit around 50% throttle and then proceeded to swiftly shit my pants.

The rear end jumped out on me on the 1-2 shift and then I over-corrected and it kicked out the other direction. Luckily nobody was around, as I work the overnight shift. But I swear I felt like I was going to have a heart attack right then and there.

Usually when this happens I just get a nice 1-2 shift chirp, this time I got poop inducing oversteer. So even the Camaro can be a bit unpredictable at times...although this was entirely predictable.

I had a 1979 Regal Sport Coupe. You know, with the 3.8 Turbo. I had ordered the car with a posi, and I knew when the rears spun it was going sideways.

So I'm on my way to work, I begin the trip down the entrance ramp to the expressway. I knew there was a bit of a dip and if I hammered it the back would kick a foot or two to the left and catch again when the weight of the car came down. So this morning a BMW is right on my butt. So I get to the dip and hammered it right to the floor.
Well, this morning with the way the sun was low there must have been some moisture on the dip. The whole car turned 90° and shot off the ramp at 40MPH. Next thing I know I'm plowing across the right-of-way, wheel cut all the way left, chunks of mud and grass rolling over the hood. The ROW fence was coming up fast and there was traffic moving on the other side of it.
My guardian angle must have been with me because about 20 feet before I hit the fence the car finally turned.
Now I'm gassing it again so I don't get stuck and start to parallel the entrance ramp and slowly approach it. There is a row of guard rail on the ramp that I must have missed by ten feet, if that, when I went off. So I get past the guard rail and approach the ramp. I look to my left to scope the traffic. There is a whole line of cars stopped, the BMW who was behind me is first in line.
If I hadn't been shaking so much I would have jumped out and taken a bow. Instead I just crawled back onto the ramp and continued on to work. Slowly, in the right lane...

So yes, it can happen to anyone.

Yeahh this I true
When I went from a 130-160hp 1988mercedes 260E to V8 crown Vic I made a mistake... The Mercedes Benz was so under powered I could floor it in the wet in a turn and slide having fun.....
The crown Vic......yup waiting for the left turn light to change I sat there waiting. Turns green. Hit the gas turn slides hits center median and smashed up my steel rim.
I was lucky I could hammer out the rim from out of round to round again but I learned right there never floor it in a turn.

Doesn't look at all like it hit a tree to me. More like it slide into a divider or a deep ditch/culvert.

Yes, apparently it rolled a few times. It was a joke on my part since the one wrecked with just a few miles more on it (just up the road from me) was wrapped around a tree.

Couldn't agree more. Stupid me pulling out of a car wash with my wife's Infiniti ended up sideways due to the sea of armor all I drove through. Thankfully no cars on the road and no damage. Be safe and only do this stuff on the track or on closed roads. Know your car.

God that's a horrible feeling. Know it all too well and you end up thinking about it for weeks and getting knots in your stomach. Good news is you tend to learn from those experiences. It's fun when you are ready for it (wide open parking lot) but scary as hell when you aren't.
