too good to be true or rip off?

So I'm looking at getting cermanic pads, considering Powerstop or Hawk, but the conversion from USD to CAD is....not good in my favor.

So I did some more looking for something up here, came across this gem. Not sure what to think, they say "Economy Rotors provide superior performance that meets or exceeds all original manufacturer specifications." among other claims on their website.

They do not offer priemum options for the 6gen as of yet. However the brake kit they do sell for 6gen does have cermanic pads and "upgraded" rotors.

Has anyone ordered from the US version website?

Just swap the pads out leave the rest of the stock junk on the car, aftermarket rotors will be a step down at best. Others will raise hell about it telling you that you can't do that and need to turn the rotors etc, it's bullcrap and I assure you that it's ok. If you look at the design of the caliper, that's exactly what they are made to do, hot swap the pads. Read about bedding the pads in, and do that after the install.

And clean your rotors really well before putting new pads in. Just did mine recently without changing rotors. No issues.

im doing mine this weekend but i have 15k on my car so gonna have to turn the rotors also

Thanks fellas, to my surprise I found a deal going on at Jegs. Got a set of Powerstops for only 158 CAD, shipped. They're supposed to be here next Friday.

I have the PowerStop Z26 pads and they're awesome! You shouldn't be disappointed. Much easier to keep my wheels clean now.

I went with Z23, my driving style doesn't require for me to have the top end pads, just want that damn dust down.

Also, back to that online brakes website, I emailed them yesterday asking why there is no options for SS coupe or premium rotors, their response was;

The rotors we are selling are factory fitment and specification according to year, model, and trim listed. Our exclusive manufacturer has plants and casting facilities throughout Mexico, Canada, Europe, Japan, and Taiwan. All machining, plating, and quality control is finalize locally in California.

We offer Economy and Premium rotors.

Economy uses an iron grade of G3000, which is great for those who are looking for a moderate upgrade from their original braking system. While Premium uses high carbon which results in a stronger rotor that can handle more demanding driving styles and conditions. It uses G3500 iron grade casting.

May you please provide the VIN # of your vehicle so we can double check if we may have the correct fitment?

I have no clue aboot iron grade, so is G3000/35000 any good?

The compund is the same z23/z26. Z23 just has a rubber backing instead of ss to keep the screeching down. But it will melt if you whip her hard on the tack. Essentially if you arent changing brake fluid and hoses or don't understand why you would do that z23 will get it done for you.

All due but I'm not sure where your going with this one, but the email quote was from the Canada brakes online website, not the Powerstop pads. I know about the difference in pads, just not the iron grade rotors G3000 or 35000 they are offering.

Few folks chattering in this thread about z23 vs z26 like there is a major difference between them. Wanted to explain it.

As for the rotors, my original statement still stands the oem rotors will be to a much higher quality than most of the aftermarket stuff. In any case, unless your rotors are damaged they don't need anything. If you want to get educated on materials SAE J431 is what defines the grades of gray cast iron used for drums and rotors. Basically the higher the number the higher the strength and hardness, but 'better' depends on the ultimate usage.

Ah ok, now I see what you're saying. Makes sense. For comparisons sake, do you happen to know what our OEM grade is on the rotors?

The main reason I was even looking at the rotors was because it was an entire kit for 300$ CAD which is really cheap, with cermanic pads.

I emailed the company earlier today, asking where the "premium" rotors are for the 6gen, and a few other questions, but have gotten no repsonse. They just seemed a little sketchy and proving it now.
