Sudden Pressure Loss

Something weird happened today...
I was driving back from work and did my normal 20mi drive home. Nothing abnormal.

As I get off the interstate my dash TPMS lights up and tells me that my driver back tire pressure is low. I GTFO the road and pull over immediately and the tire pressure is 24psi.

I hooked up the compressor that comes with the car and filled it back to 35psi and it seemed to hold the pressure just fine.

What could have happened?

The last time I checked my tire pressure was no more than 24 hours ago, and it was at 35psi then!

if your tire has a nail in it and you park on it, the air can leak out, yet if you are not parked on it then it may hold air.

Turns out it was a small thorn. Got it patched for $25 Is a patch better than plug?

At least here in NC, tire places aren't allowed to plug, only patch and that if it's in the fixable part of the inside of the tire to do a patch. I've had 2 patches before and no problems
