Please you're going to try and prove me wrong bringing up the cla45? Not comparable with an ss whatsoever. So your saying theguy who shops an ss looks at the ugly cla45 as well? Yes an m4 issimilar toa zl1. But like they said, bang for your buck the zl1 has performance in a whole other bracket compared to an m4

Camaro. As someone who was looking at both, the Camaro looks better. All BMWs look the same.

I bought solely on looks. My car is a family cruiser so I don't care about anything performance. I4, V6, V8 would've made me equally happy. My dealer had my car highly discounted so that made the decision easy.

The few redneck's around here have a jacked up trucks with huge mud tires, likely with a rebel flag pasted somewhere & a bunch of bumper stickers. Sometimes those fake bull balls hanging from the trailer hitch. Not a Camaro...
Yes, I like the looks, but it was there Alpha chassis & LT1, along with all the excellent reviews & comparisons that got me to come in to drive one. Would have never considered it otherwise. |

Back to your original question, I most definitely did not buy my car for looks. IMO that's one of the worst reasons to pick a car. It offered the most performance, features, and technology for the price.

Seems like the vast majority of respondents appreciate the look, but purchased the car for the performance and/or value.

Personally, I believe that "American Muscle" is in a category all it's own. Foreign performance cars are also in a category of their own. In my case, I enjoy keeping up with all cars but my personal preference has always been American Muscle.
It's probably because of my roots, as my dad always chose performance hybrid cars for our family rides (circa 70s GrandAm, Cougar, etc.). Dad was also a mechanic for GMC (diesel semi's). My best friend growing up had a '67 Chevelle, a good friend in school had a '70 GTO Judge, my first car was a '69 Camaro etc.. so you get the picture of influence. Saw more Chargers and Challengers during the Friday Night Cruises vs. Mustangs - much like depicted in the movie American Graffiti (though set in 1962). I could have chosen a 'vette for my recent purchase, but the Carmaro just "fits" my preference. I dabbled with getting a ZL1, but opted for the Fifty SS more for it's uniqueness and punch when the pedal commanded it. I never felt "right" in my Lexus IS250 F-Sport.. No complaints about that car and certainly not a foreign performance car - just was not me.

Looks was the one of the biggest factor for me and when you combine it with everything else for this generation, it's outstanding. I absolutely love the 6th gen and the low roof line. The side silhouette of the 6th gen is just beautiful.

I had actually wanted a C7, and that was based mostly on looks. When they introduced the Camaro and I saw it could get pretty much the same goodies I wanted for about $15K less my mind was pretty much made up. The looks aren't bad by any means though and that factored in to the decision as well. If I thought it was ugly I would not have got it and probably would have got a slightly used C7. The one usable back seat (my seat is back the whole way since I'm 6'1" with long legs) has come in handy and without it I'd probably drive the car less than I already do as it is just a toy.

No, bought mine because it's the fastest car I could afford. That being said, it does look awesomely pissed off. Sound like that too.
