Love the look. Got my attention. The car did and continues to do the rest.

Ya 2 year old M4 for $10K more.

Hence my value prop comment. I like the motor in the Camaro better. Brakes better. Chassis is a wash. Steering and handling may be better too. Interior quality and clutch feel are the two areas the M4 does better. Looks better too.

But there is a SS in my garage.

Parked next to my M5 mind you.

Which one looks better? Camaro or the M4?

I was cross shopping an AMG C63 and the camaro was simply way better to drive. I like the looks of the two about the same. Money isn't really a deciding factor.

Agreed. But it's a substantial jump from the $36k I paid for a 1SS. Which means I got a brand new, better performing car and saved $14k (which can get me to 700hp if I ever feel the need).

Again, for a lot of us, it's probably more about value. Granted, there are some who bought the car because of its history, and some who bought it to "make America great again"...but in a group this large, our reasons for purchasing are going to be as varied as the day is long. Just my $.02.

People will see value based on their background. You think you are buying value when buying the Camaro.

If you ask the guy who bought the BMW, which one has more value?, what do you think he says? Oh, I think Camaro has more value but I choose BMW anyways? No, he is certain BMW is more value.

My point is, the value we put on the car also depends on other values in our backgrounds.

I DO see your point, and possibly could have made myself more clear: I'm talking about bang-for-the-buck value. 0-60, 1/4 mile, HP/torque are all quantifiable...and all favor the Camaro.

I bought my Camaro for the performance, the sound and then the looks in that order. Wouldn't have bought it for the first two if it looked like a delivery truck.

I liked Porsche and Mercedes over BMW, but I feel all of these cars are now catering to the masses. Many of them seem to have less soul then their older versions. They are less raw. That is why I still own at GT3. It seams a bit of a hold out. The Camaro and especially the ZL1, which I bought, just seems to be a little less civilized. I really like that. That is what I value.

I am really going to hate the day when the cars drive themselves and we trade the steering wheel in for a rear facing sofa and a coffee table in our vehicles... and god forbid if we feel acceleration in our hermetically sealed cocoon.

I bought mine because it´s different, carries a V8, sound, fifty model and somewhere on the line I ended up liking American muscle cars

In fact it was the wife telling me.
"Do not buy a BMW M3, M4 or M2 looks like any other European car, no fun"

Well I still like the BMW´s (especially M2) but already having a F11 530D putting out around 290 horsepower. I agreed with her and found the Camaro Fifty.

Had my eyes also on the Cayman GT4 but no backseat for the children and to expensive even though it would have been a good investment...

The looks are brutal and different as well as the sound through the NPP
Vrooom!

Bought it for the technology and the HP gain. I actually liked my 5th gen looks better but the added power and 2SS options are totally worth the upgrade. The look has grown on me much more now and I like it better.

I didn't buy the 6th gen for the looks, however that IS why I bought the 5th gen. I didn't really care for the 6th gen until I saw it in person. Once I sat in it and then drove it....I was sold. The looks definitely grew on me. Amazing lines on these cars. Didn't buy it for value or compare it to BMW, simply bought it because its amazing to drive.

I haven't bought yet and considering Camaro SS, Mustang GT, & M2 BMW. I have money down on an M2. I would say just being fun to drive is the #1 buy criteria for me and from what I've seen from videos, that would be the Camaro. Beyond that, looks is a big factor as is overall performance which is also part of the fun to drive, comfort, reliability.

I bought mine because it's a beautiful looking car with amazing performance, it's the best deal around for the money.

Agreed. Calling the latest generation Camaro a "Redneck Car" is a bit over the top.

I purchased my 15' Z/28 because at the time, 2 years ago, it was the top American Sports Car only rivaling the C7-Z06 and SRT Viper, and one of the best all around Sport Cars in the world. My reason for buying ...

1/ Price 4 value
2/ Aggressive muscle style/lines
3/ Made in America
4/ Highly safe vehicle in case of accident/collision
5/ Enuff room to stow stuff in trunk or backseat
6/ High organic horsepower (no turbos or s-chargers)
