Anyone has info on ZL1 or ZL1 1LE track width specs F and R? Couldn't find it anywhere.
BTW ZL1 1LE is surely a a very special monster, but I suspect ZL1 with 1LE tires wouldn't be far behind it (just my guess based on how much tires account for overall pace). Very curious to find how much the 1LE is gonna go for...

The DSSV suspension that comes with the ZL1 1LE is about 1" narrower than the MRC. That and the drop to 19" is what enables the clearance for the 305/325.

Front - 64.1"
Rear - 62.8"

Up front (and down rear) from standard ZL1, which is up (and down) from SS.

Because of the 750 limit this year, anyone who wants one best make certain their dealer is getting one for real; so you don't get put on a "list". Also, May 11 is not the only order cycle for this car, but it is the first one. They're going to spread the builds for these out across the model year, as I understand it.

I'd say go for it if you can afford it It's supposedly 3 seconds faster than the ZL1 at GM's Milford track which should put the ZL1 1LE in the same league with C7 Z06.

Thx for posting the offsets! Seems they've mirrored the Z/28 here with a much wider F track.
Don't quite understand the ZL1 to SS reference. Are their track widths the same?

PS ya 3 seconds is big at Milford, but I'd like to know how much the tires play into it. Just so I know lol

Track Widths (SS - ZL1 - ZL1 1LE)

Front: 63.10 - 63.4 - 64.1

Rear: 63.10 - 62.0 - 62.8

It appears as if the ZL1 is using a wider front track, and narrower rear track width to compensate for the extra bit of weight over the front axle, and get a better turn in response vs keeping the measurements the same as the SS.

I imagine the time is a full package deal...sort of the way they say you can't just add up the hp gains for individual bolt-ons.

My opinion: The tires are stiffer, and the stiffer suspension will help them stay in contact with the road better (but being lighter, the whole assembly will react quicker to changes). Meanwhile, the aero will push the whole car down into the ground harder than a standard ZL1, further taking advantage of that grip.

Thanks for the specs, but GMAuthority has SS listed as 63F 62.9R - close but not exactly the same. May I ask what's your source please?

As far as the 3 second advantage: I agree fully it is a sum of all parts, but tires always play a dominant role. Although SS 1LE on streets beats Z/28 on semi slicks at Laguna, so maybe not quite? Then again, I wonder how much faster the former would be on Trofeo Rs?! Who knows....
One thing is for certain in my book: ZL1 would be faster on GY Cups, the only question would be to what extend the 3 sec deficit would be cut.

I think Motortrend? Perhaps Road and Track...did a wheel/tire swap between a 1LE and Z/28, and ran them through their normal barrage of tests. The results were interesting, and not what one might expect.

As long as no one gets offended, I could talk about this hypothetical stuff all day long!

Haha I recall that article very well. Always wondered: WHY didn't they run them on a race track? Hmmm...Enuf said Oh BTW they should have compared a ZL1 to the Z/28. That would have yielded different results as well (win wink, nudge nudge). But let's stop there as folks DO get offended by all this hypothetical stuff. All I can say for certain is this: in many yrs of tracking my cars I've never gotten slower on a higher grade tire. On a RACE TRACK. Peace
