It seems to me like there are two perspectives being discussed as if they were apples to apples. Maybe that will help understand points of view.
First, there are the owners that got their ZL1s before all the media reports, and the insanely awesome ignition video. Before owner (not pro) track numbers started showing up. Before the Demon was announced. Before more and more of the Ford rumors started to solidify. This thread appears (I'm not the OP so I can only assume) to ask those people, now that everything is on the table, how do you feel? I think it's a valid question from that perspective. There could reasonably be some disappointment through some sort of pre-conceived expectation that wasn't met; regardless of whether it was a reasonable expectation or not. Then there's those that have purchased after those timelines above knowing exactly what they were getting and exactly where it fell in the lineup (at the top imo). These are some of the shocked responses at some if those perceived unreasonable expectations. My biggest disappointment is how bad driving it down the line I've been. :( It's been about 7 years since I went down the 1/4. Not like riding a bike at all. To be fair I was still getting to know my car hahah.

Really? We live in a time when low 11's from a track dominating, grand touring car disappoints some people.
This is a world class piece of machinery with an msrp ~$5k less than a Hellcat. So. Much. More.

That would have fixed your 1/4 mile issue Having an extra 200 hp in your ZL1 with manual and first gear that goes to 62mph would have only improved your numbers slightly The Demon does its thing because of all the optimizations done for the drag strip that i won't repeat here And if Demon was straight manual transmission, then wouldn't have such great 1/4 mile numbers, just like A8 Hellcats do better than M6 Hellcats... Thoughts? |

And to the above (Sven59), I have done the twisties, but who can prove anything there? I've driven snowmobiles/dirtbikes/four wheelers/sand rails/cars you name it fast through turns and you always back off for a few reasons. 1) You don't want to die 2) You don't want to crash 3) You can't see ahead. Racing in the turns is 1000x more ridiculous than a highway roll as far as danger and it normally proves nothing due to different drivers giving more or less shits about the above reasons. This isn't a Porche 918 or a 458 Italia. These are muscle cars that can threaten sport/super cars. |

![]() But fair enough, it's not always about beating the other person...Which is why I'm probably going to get a ZL1 and cam it just for the sound and will I pissed that a pulleyed Hellcat is faster, yeah, but oh well. |

That's what is wonderful about a great handling car you're doing it for your own enjoyment, no other driver/car required.
