5th Gen z28 wheels on 2016 2SS

Hey folks, my apologies if this has already been done. A friend of mine wanted to see how his z28 wheels looked on my 6th gen yesterday so we went ahead and threw them on. At first, once we let the car down off the jack, it looked like the fender gap was ridiculous, but once I rolled the car forward a few feet things looked much better. I'd guess about an inch drop would make these a perfect fit height wise. Sure, they stick out on width and would need some fender flares to fix that, but I actually like the "Mad Max" look myself and would be in no rush to cover them I suspect.

z28 wheels are 19" tall, with the fronts being 11" wide and the rears being 11.5" wide. The tyres are 305/30 all the way around. Speed would ideally need to be recalibrated to run these - I'd probably not bother as I'd likely only use them on the track myself.

Cheers.

they look good.. any side shots? The rims should poke out a lil since those are wider wheels.. slight poke = aggressive look however.

Thank you!
FYI to OP: this increases F track by 2 inches vs stock and will induce more oversteer by loading outside R tire more. Just FYI when u test on a track.

Thanks for the tip! These belong to a friend of mine so I'm back to stock wheels for the moment, but if he ends up selling them they'll most likely become my track wheels. As a drift fan I'm happiest in the land of oversteer anyway!

I'm keen to see if he'll let me put them back on for some road testing and 0-60 runs at some point. My car is the six speed and my best 0-60 so far is a flat 4.0 on stock so it'll be interesting to see the increased grip in both straight-line launch and some on/off-ramp "spirited" steering - pretty much the only time I get to push the grip to it's limits off the track.

Thanks! No side shots this time, but I'll arrange to put all four on some time soon and get some better pics/video (in these photos the other side has the stock wheels still - this was really just a test to see how much fender gap there was going down from 20" rims with 35 height tyres to 19" rims with 30 height tyres).

I'll try and arrange something in the next couple of weeks or so.

He hasn't told me what they cost him (they came with tyres about half worn, too), but I've found them on ThatGMPartsGuy for the pretty great price of just $2,715.16 (list price is just shy of $4k. Tyres aren't cheap, though - I think he said $500-$600 a piece?):

http://www.thatgmpartsguy.com/wheels...ls?parent=1068

They're much lighter than the stock wheels and tyres, which is another bonus. I'll see if I can compare them on a scale next time, but from feel it's as if they're about half the weight - it's quite remarkable, actually!

Back on tyres, I thought they were Pirelli P1s but I'm probably mistaken (I'm not even sure that exists!) and they're actually Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R. The pattern looks the same to me, anyway. Of course there are much cheaper options for 305/30-19 tyres.

BTW I can get these from a local GM dealer for 4G CAD which is about the same price as the parts guy. So not sure they really sell for 4G USD as everything seems cheaper S of the border

Oh damn, the 325's on a 11x5 is going to be massive and a very tight fit. If you move the harness, then you'll have about 1/2" of clearance I believe with 325's.

I have fat 315's on an 11 inch rim, when I moved the harness back there is about an inch from the harness to the tire. I think you should be fine though as long as you move the wire.. but it will get tight.

thanks for the info, trying to find pics of your car. the rear rims posted here are suppose to be 11.5" wide so I was curious how much room he has as it sits. There are a lot of options of 325/30s so I was hoping to run those.
