ProCharger Install
Hey everyone, I was hoping to get some tips or suggestions regarding the install of the ProCharger Full Kit with the Stage II Intercooler for my 2016 2SS, I will be doing the install myself, so if anyone who has done the install themselves could shed some insight to what I can expect or what obstacles & challenges I will encounter? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Do you need to upgrade your fuel system to run "x amount" of boost? -The directions from procharger are pretty spot on however READ THE DIRECTIONS IN ORDER, I skipped around and had to redo a few things. We have 2 people working on it and thought we could save time, it didn't. -The crank bolt was probably the most time consuming part of the install for me(mine was on extremely tough) it took 3 big guys(200-290 lbs) and a 1" drive breaker bar with an extension to break loose, the A8 makes it a pain as someone needs to hold the torque converter under the car. The only other part which took me a while was moving the aux radiator on the drivers side to the new location. -Check everything a few times over, I did this and a coolant pipe still burst within a few hours, look for kinks in lines, any clearance issues with other parts such as the AC system -Only other suggestion I would say is give yourself an ample amount of time and make sure you have all the tools needed before starting. While I'm sure a shop can do the install in 8 hours or so it took me 2 days of solid work, probably closer to 20 hours of labor. Wow great info guys, I truly appreciate it. I will be ordering my kit next week but I will be holding off on the install for a bit because I want to pass the 25,000 mile mark before I give up the factory warranty. But who knows if I will be able to wait... Thanks again guys

Just wondering about the A8 mention of holding the torque convertor under the car. How do you do that?

In the directions from Prodcharger it shows how.
You remove the inspection cover and (want I did) wedge a crowbar between a tooth and the side of the inspection port to prevent the crank from spinning. I had to get a second person to spin the crank bolt a few times until it got wedged securely enough where I could break the crank bolt loose. I used the 4 ft. handle from my race jack as a cheater bar instead of monkeying around with just the long breaker bar I had. Came loose real quick! |
