Next round of mods complete on the 1LE

Nothing to major, as much as I would love for the round to have been headers, ported IM/TB and a tune it was all appearance mods his time. Finally got the dealership to where they could accept a GM certificate I had, so with that I ordered a set of the smoked tail lights, GM Strut tower brace, illuminated door sill plates and the GM indoor car covers.

Tail lights took about 30 minutes to install, strut tower took about the same time. For now I have the door sill plates in, just need to run the wiring and splice into the BCM signal for them which is on the agenda for tomorrow.

GM didn't have the smoked 3rd brake light in stock yet, so I used some extra 3M carbon fiber film to make a template for now. This will have to do until I can get the 3rd brake light ordered.

Obligatory pics...

Not sure as it was all under the accessory certificate I had from GM. I think retail is $425 for the pair. They are complete and ready to go, once you get the panels off and to them it is 3 bolts per tail and a tug, then they come out. Unplug the harness and move part of the harness over to the new lights then plug them in and reinstall everything.

You have to take each of the truck strut covers off that are over each tail light, then the center plate that covers the trunk latch on the inside of the trunk, then on each side you have to remove the 2 push pins that hold the carpet in place. You will also have to pull the spare tire carpet cover out as well.

Absolutely no reason to remove center plate over trunk latch, just the 3 pop clips on each sides strut cover and the other clip on each side down in trunk itself ,which were a bitch for me. Just peel back the carpet enough to get the bolt back there, saves you time. There is a how to video from sledgehammer in the diy section on here.

It makes it easier for the center panel to be out of the way. The side carpet would not move over without creasing it, that is why I took mine out.

Ended up finishing up the install on the illuminated door sills, takes about an hour to put them in. Being a contortionist if a required install feature it seems.

We've done the GM strut tower brace and GM illuminated door sills also.

Definitely helps to stretch out to limber up before making the sill electrical taps under the dash!

On the fence myself on the clear tails. Our Z06 has them and it works there for me...still undecided about them on the 1LE and they are kind of pricey.

Tails look great except for that baby blue bird tag on the back. Lol. I'm still not used to the new plates. I'm actually from a couple hours southeast but am finally picking my car up from Norman next week.

Yeah I think the state should of have used another artist, but give it 3 years and they will change them again and charge us for the change again.
