Agreed. Sounds to me like you would regret letting the GS go.

Depends. Are you on the fence about getting the 1LE or is it the letting the C6 GS go?

Only you know what centimental attachment you have to your GS.

That being said if you are hesitant because of the feeling of stepping backwards from a Vette to a Camaro, DON'T! I beat a 2011 GS by nearly 3 whole seconds at the Autocross last week. They have several seasons of experience and I'm a Novice. I also beat a C7 Z51 that is driven by another very seasoned competitor!

See the A Street results and the Novice D results.

I sold my z51 C7 and bought a 1le and missed th z51 c7 almost felt like
I wanted it back I test drove it again and realized the 1le is a superior car handling turning and esp shifting and realized the c7 is not what the thought it was vs the 1le so can't imagine a c6 GS can come close I think the 1le is built of th vette and has a better chassis it felt good passing 2 diff c7 z51s at road Atlanta I have way more grip and control into turns despite what the numbers said. Also think the c6 looks very out dated the only thing I would get rid of the 1le for would be a new Zl1!

I will never diss a Pcar, as they are beautiful machines and their DNA never wavered fro a proper sports car.
But apart from better pace for top offerings (at a tremendous cost) they have nothing on the 1LE offer. I reached that conclusion in about 5 mins during my test drive.

I can believe that statement. I have a thread 1LE vs 911 4S. I can't compare the 2 regarding track use. The 4S is a convertible. But i can agree that my 1LE feels better in many ways. You won't change the fact that the porsche is lighter and you feel that in the turns. But the grip and cornering ability is on par if not better on the 1LE. You just feel much lighter and quicker on your feet with the porsche.

But why i think this relates is because this gentleman's Grand Sport is more like the 4S than your gt3. A well rounded sports car with very good track capability (not a dedicated track toy). Also the grand sport might fall under a similar weight. So like i compare the 1LE to the 911 is how i would compare it to the Grand Sport. You're going to like the performance better, you will just notice the extra weight over its counterpart. Not that it is a bad thing, the handling and cornering ability will be the same if not better. You will just feel that weight more. And when your not cornering at an extremely high speed, the extra weight helps with everything else. Smoother ride, more planted feel.

I recommended maybe waiting for the 2018 2SS 1LE if he wants the extra options that make it more corvette-like. But personally i wouldn't have it that way. Keep it bare-boned and highly performance oriented. The price tag and value for performance is why this car shines, so keep it simple.

If you wanted performance/luxury/styling with some everyday driving capability, that's where the corvettes come into play. That's where porsche shines. Also cars like the m3 or m4. My preference was to have all the performance for a good bargin, save the luxury for the luxury cars.

That's not what this thread is about

I strongly agree and that's exactly why I wanted to get my 1LE. It also looks good (added benefit) but I would still get it, if it didn't since it has a tremendous amount of performence for the money

well said. plus cost is always a factor unless you are bill gates. it helps knowing that these cars only cost about $40k and they can easily be replaced if something were to go wrong on the track...it gives you more confidence on the track and confidence is what makes you fast.
