So a little off subject but does the charging pad in the Camaro work with the S8?
The phone is a little too long to fit on it but not sure how that thing is supposed to work anyway.

My cables are on order.

I believe that is one of the benefits of USB-C.

Here are the benefits pertaining to power...

USB-C, USB PD, and Power Delivery

The USB PD specification is also closely intertwined with USB Type-C. Currently, a USB 2.0 connection provides up to 2.5 watts of power—enough to charge your phone or tablet, but that’s about it. The USB PD specification supported by USB-C ups this power delivery to 100 watts. It’s bi-directional, so a device can either send or receive power. And this power can be transferred at the same time the device is transmitting data across the connection. This kind of power delivery could even let you charge a laptop, which usually requires up to about 60 watts.

Yes it does. I have the S8, not the S8 +, and it fits. It charges without any modifications, but I don't trust it since it can easily slide off. I modified my pad, cut one of the little "bumps" off on the side, now mine fits great. I leave mine in a leather pouch sleeve from my S6 and the phone in the pouch fits great now. I do have another case that is supposed to arrive today, same type, but may not fit as great, so may have to cut the other bump, but should fit then.

I'm wondering why with just using the USB Type C cable it is suddenly charging faster. From what I remember, the USB port in the car is a 2.0 port, so it should not see any boost in power for a type C cable. I'm downloading an app now to measure what the phone is getting. Will try my old S6 cable (with type C adapter) vs the one that came with the S8.

your cable wont magically charge the phone faster.

What's probably happening is that it's a new phone. It charges faster due to the new battery and newer technology the battery employs to allow it to charge faster.

aged batteries will show degradation and charge slower despite also having less capacity as they age due to the internal resistance changing on top of the older chemistry used and lower current for charging the battery coming out of the charging circuit so it doesn't overheat.

Adding a usb-c cable or an adapter wont change how much current comes out of the usb 2.0 ports coming from the hmi.

Yes, i always change my TTS voice to some version of UK or aussie depending on which voice sounds sexier.

It's been annoying for years because google has refused to abide by the setting and forced it's network TTS voice which is determined by your network location vs whatever you have set in your device.

Finally though, it seems either samsung changed that or google finally got around to stopping that stupid override of the user's choice.

Yeah you are actually right. I know the battery in the S8 was designed differently including it to hold 95% of its orignal capacity after 1 year, not to mention newer charging speeds.

I was accepted to be a beta tester back on April 7th, haven't heard anything since. Don't have a new version of Waze on the beta tab in Google Play, and nothing on their website. =/
