Which car would you buy?

Hello everyone,

I am having a hard time deciding on my next car and thought what better place to gather information than the forum for a car I am considering.

A bit of background, I currently have a 2017 Subaru BRZ 6MT for my daily driver. Recently, my commute changed from a leisurely 10 km (6 miles) drive along back roads to a 60 km (37 miles) of highway slog (think LA, but even more traffic dense). While the BRZ is a fun car, the combination of high NVH, awful infotainment system and low torque makes the longer commute a chore.

I went down to my local Chevrolet & Cadillac dealership and priced out a few options. Except for the Lexus, all lease terms are 36 months and all finance terms are 60 months at 0%. Note, I am in Canada and so the prices are substantially higher than the US and I do have to deal with winter.
  1. 2017 ATS-V Sedan (A8): $61,624; $1,009 per month on a lease; insurance $1,427 per year
  2. 2017 Camaro 2SS (A8, NPP, Mag Ride): $55,630; $913 per month on a lease; $1,033 per month on finance; insurance $1,310 per year
  3. 2017 Camaro 2LT 1LE: $46,555; $840 per month on a lease; $886 per month on finance; insurance $1,306 per year
  4. 2015 Lexus RC-F: $55,200; $1,139 per month on finance (at 2.9%); insurance $1,374 per year

My car is used for daily driving, road trips with my wife and 3 - 4 HPDEs per year. I was only able to test drive the 2SS and RC-F as the dealer did not have a 2LT 1LE or ATS-V in stock.

I am hesitant about leasing as I tend to buy and keep my cars for a while ('88 MR-2, '02 M3, '06 Si and now the BRZ), but the dealer is offering $15,000 off the MSRP on an ATS-V lease.

Given the choices listed, what would you pick (and why if you don't mind)?

60 months finance monthlys look high, how did you calculate?

I would go for option 3.

4-Lexus has no soul.

1- is too high for a sedan.

2- too much money when you can have 3 with NPP

The monthlys include 13% sales tax. I told you Canada was expensive.

I would do the 2SS and I would buy not lease (72 months), being like you I tend to keep my cars (if it's special to me). My last car (for me not the family) shall be the 2SS and when I'm doing luvin' the hell out of it, my grand kids (future tense) will be fist fighting for paw paw's hot azz Camaro with adrenaline red interior! (My 2 cents)

Haha, have you seen the Canadian dollar? A 2SS optioned the way I have it configured is $47,000 US. At the current exchange rate, that's $64,000 Canadian.

Are you planning on putting any money down? Those payments are high, personally I always at the very least put 25% down.

I would do the 2SS. The V6 1LE is the SS with the V6 instead. Unless you prefer the V6, I would just go for the SS and get MRC as well. Assuming you can afford all of the cars.

I was contemplating it, but at 0% interest it makes more sense to put the money I would put down into my TFSA (Tax Free Savings Account) and earn the return that the index funds are giving.

I think the loans are also open term up here, so if the rates do change for some reason, I can always make a lump sum payment.

Seems that also your gasoline budget will have to go up quite a bit, unless you chose the 2LT 1LE.

Why don't you commute in the ATS 2.0T you already have?
