Thanks for the feed back and the back to back comparisons. I am leaning more towards the gen 6... just looking at the best deals around and trying to decide if I want leather or not?

I picked the 2SS mainly because of the climate control, cooled seats, and especially the sensor package in the rear. It's not an easy car to see out of the back- the indicators make it much safer to change lanes and get out of parking lots. The leather seats aren't the best, I wish my car had the recaros out of a zl1. Awesome driving car- I love how it feels on the road. You will be happy with the 6 gen SS.

Or - get the 1LE with 2SS as a 2018 model? Heard that was going to be available later this year. I do wish mine had the wheels, tires, and handling package of the 1LE. May just add the upgrade at some point from GM accessories.

The ZL1 is cool no doubt, even in 5th Gen form, however the performance specs stock for stock, put the Gen5 ZL1 and Gen6 SS pretty much dead even. I vote 6th Gen all day. I bought the 1SS because I didn't really want leather, but either way you can't go wrong.

I don't plan on going full crazy with the car just mild bolt on's down the road. I guess I am looking to which would be the better buy for the money and what I'll enjoy more also.
I started out like you, exactly actually, and still use it as a DD during nice days. I know some will disagree but I wouldn't recommend mild bolt-ons. It sounds like you want to keep the warranty intact and the only way to really guarantee that now is to leave it alone. I would either go all-in or leave it stock. You're not going to gain anything significant anyway from the basic stuff without a tune. You have to ask yourself - is the risk worth the reward?

I think the 16 SS is on par with the 15 ZL1 in performance and track. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes but most of us here have also owned Gen 5.

The 5th Gen is still a nice car, its heavier but carries it weight well. Its not a pig.

I've had 3 5th gen SS's, last one was a 1LE. I am having so much more fun in my 6th gen, granted it's a ZL1. 6th Gen all the way...

Sacrilege! Everyone on the internet knows you can gain 20 HP by sprinkling magic fairy dust and bolting on an intake!
Tune-schmoon
This 5th gen ZL1 vs 6th gen SS keeps coming up. The consensus is always the 6th gen SS is the better of the two, but really these comparisons are pointless without knowing details like price, mileage, condition, and options of the cars involved.

For me the Alpha platform & the LT1 were a game changer. I never even considered the Zeta platform based Camaro. The Alpha platform was really a game changer. Read all the reviews and drive both.

Gen6 all the way!! I too had a Gen5 2010 SS that was modded but after driving my '16 for the first time I had to get the Gen6. I miss the '10 sometimes but it all changes when I drive the '16. My advice is to go with the Gen6!!
