Has Anybody painted the Inside of your Bowties??
I'm a cheapskate,,, so what ,,lol
I was thinking of painting the gold part of the fr/back bowties, instead of blowing 100.00 bucks plus on new ones!! If you have, what did you prep the plastic with??,,,, Denatured alcohol is what I was thinking, but maybe something better?? |

I'm curious to see the method ateps for doing this. I'm a DIY'er and was thinking about doing mine in Blue Velvet Metallic.

Yeah I did mine with plastidip. You just peel the black off the silver part and it separates perfectly from the center gold bowtie.

Yep, I plasti dipped mine also, 8 months later they've lasted. I didn't use anything fancy to prep the surface, just washed it along with the car with soap and water. I used the blue painters tape to tape off the silver part of the bow tie and then put some paper behind it to keep the over-spray off of the car. Works great, I just used a $5 can of flat black and put about 5 coats on it!

Started about 6:30 and I'm done!!! Had the tape, found a half can of plasticote in my garage, and newspaper,,,,voila!
A couple of things I figured out in the process,,,, If a paint and body company ever hired me, I'd be Schmitt canned in the first 30 min's,,,,,lol,,,,,,, and Anybody that paid for New badges,,,,, should be kicked in the giggleberries!!! That,,other than taping off the badge's,,, was a walk in the park! And talk about instant gratification, my car is white, so the differents= big smile!!! |
