Got rear ended first month of ownership of 1LE

I seem to have bad luck with new cars. Every new car i bought. I usually get into accidents not because of me. My last car i bought new was rear ended by a drunk driver who did a hit and run. He didn't have insurance on his vehicle either. On 4/20 i was coming home from school. I was rear ended by a senior citizen. I was mad but once i saw the old guy shaking, i felt bad. Was nice and respectful to him. Thankfully he had insurance.

My question for you guys is. There is minor cosmetic damage. he rear ended me while i was moving. Impact jerked me off my seat and caused little bit of whiplash neck and back pains. I am disabled veteran already have history of neck and back issues. I don't see much much cosmetic damage very minor. Do you guys think there could be hidden damage under the back fender? I was thinking of just taking the insurance money and not even fixing anything, but am afraid there might be hidden damage. Is there any impact absorbing materials that need to be replaced after a collision? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

wow another rear ended 1LE :/ This is the third time I am seeing this.
Sorry to hear about that. I would definitely have it checked at a reputable collision shop

Sorry to hear that man. You never know about other possible issues until it gets throughly inspected but one thing I can offer you is you should place a diminish value claim against his insurance. I had to do this when I had my 2010 Challenger SRT8 that got scraped up all down the side of it. A partial respray will never be the same and when you try and sell it, especially at a dealership, they will walk the car and check the paint thickness to see if the car had ever been repainted or damaged. And then they will lower the offering of your vehicle. Our states law (VA) only allows you to claim diminished value against someone else's insurance company and cannot be claimed on from your own policy.

I received several additional thousands of dollars to satisfy the claim. I hope this is helpful.

Number 13 could be damaged and no longer provide full impact protection. ABSORBER - 2016-2018 CHEVROLET CAMARO (23404805)

Bumper cover should be removed and entire assembly inspected for damage.

I was the other 1LE rearended. And I have hidden damage. #10 and #13 on my car are damaged behind the #16. Its about $1000 in parts. Plus labor probaby going to be $2k all done. My #16 part has almost no visible damage either. But its here, and I can see it. Im getting mine fixed this week. Hopefully no more damage. My bumper cover is not damaged at all, so no paint or body work needed. Just bolt on those new three parts I mentioned above, and its back to brand new. Just make sure the place where the impact bar bolts too is not damaged or pushed in. That would be bad.

Good luck. Took a week of arguing with the other driver's insurance co. They closed out the claim on friday and should have me an estimate to work off of today.

Mine also was rear ended after having the car a short 5 days........From my understanding mine was just the bumper cover and absorber. The driver who hit me swerved at the last second and barely clipped me at an angle. They also hit my exhaust however and I wound up getting a BORLA catback out of it. The entire thing sucked but my car was repaired good as new and I now have a better exhaust out of it. I'm not too upset about it anymore actually lol. Good luck with whatever you decide to do, I know this process sucks.

Rear ender checking in. Mine didn't look much worse but the repair bill for all the bent or broken bits added up in a hurry.

Definitely get it fixed, otherwise you'll always feel bad about the car. Mine was fixed and looks good as new.
