Do you apply Parking Brake every time you Park

Cuz if you dont, you should. Every single time. Regardless if it's uphill, downhill or flat. This is not only safer, it's better for your transmission.

And there is correct way to apply the parking brake, also known as emergency brake:

You come to a stop with your foot still on brake pedal, and while you are still holding pressure on the brake, you push, or pull, the parking brake, depending on the type of car you drive.

After that, if its an auto, you shift to P. If it's a manual put it in first gear. The important part is that the car is hold first by your brakes, not your transmission.

I know many of you do this already, but after seeing the reactions to the other thread I doubt everyone does it, or does it correctly.

Never ever use my parking brake. Never will.
About 28 years ago I used it on my truck in the winter time. It froze. Took me 4 hours laying under to get it thawed out.
I swore I'd never use one again and never have.

I always do. No matter if it is in the garage or anywhere. Just part of the shut down process for us.

Pretty much never unless i'm on a large incline. Learned it from the track where you do not apply the parking brake after a session. The stress on a transmission is next to nothing if you are parked flat. Also, if you are on an incline pointing downwards, I would put the car in reverse, not first gear even with the parking brake on.

Apparently not everyone has learned their lesson from the other thread. The OP's first post is not to be disagreed with. It is 100% correct and accurate.

What is wrong with you guys?...

Nothing is wrong with me or my car. I've driven manual for over twenty years and have never had an issue. I practice common sense and have hundreds of thousands of miles under my belt with a lot of combined track and autocross time that mitigates the usage of a parking brake. Google is a great resource for seeing the effects of using a parking brake after a hard drive or when the rotors have heat in them. To put it simply, i'm not going to change habits that have worked for me based on a forum post and someone else's experience through their own filter.

If the car is on an incline, I will use the parking brake. If the car is parked flat, I will not.

There are dudes who are here for sharing info, and there are dudes here who are here cuz they need attention, or a challenge, or some sort of distraction from their misery.

The latter, thus, focus on the characters, not what being said or discussed. Because they have no interest in it.

Whatever you are here for, I will never insult anyone, unless I am insulted first.

So you decide which way you want to go.

It froze because you probably didn't use it on a constant basis before hand, then decided you wanted to use it and the cable was frozen and/or rusted stiff.

Use it all the time from the day you buy the car brand new it will never fail. Since I started driving in 1993 I've racked up over 400,000 miles of driving over 4 cars. Always used the parking brake on all of them, automatics and manuals, every time I parked no matter the terrain, it's never failed.
