I bought one and the car is a blast to drive. I'm coming from a 13 1LE so I think I can honestly say you won't regret it. You really can't use 455 HP on the street and it's more bragging rights. Auto crossing the V6 1LE will be a blast. Just get what you can afford and go have fun with it...
Scott, I'm really glad you chimed in! From a v6 1le owner, how does the car perform? Have you driven a base v6, and is there a distinct difference in performance? Also, how does it drive on the daily basis when not driving the car at 10 10ths?

I know you said youre interested in a used rental spec for around 21k...i know when I picked up my v6 1LT back in September I was able to negotiate the price down to 22k for a new 2016 with 15 miles on the odometer. If you can negotiate right you might be able to get a good price on a new one also.

Damn, all of the 1LT's with the v6 around me are like 27k, and I qualify for 2500 off with the 1000 cash back. I was told you can't stack rebates by the dealership. Is that true?

The only option on mine was the V6. They wanted 28 or 29,but there was a rebate and I had them drop the price down to 21,999. Just start making them compete with each other or expand your search a little further out of your area. For 22k the car was a steal.

I haven't driven a base 6th gen v6 but I had a 5th gen v6 before my 13 1le and I can only say it's a big difference but remember it's also the new Alpha platform.
I don't daily drive my car it's a w/end toy for car shows and hopefully track days. Around town the car is a lot of fun to me...it feels light and responsive.
It's a great car to me for what I plan on doing with it.

Yeah, I did start doing the whole competing thing between two dealerships locally, but they didn't really get below 25k. They told me that the rebates that I qualify for don't stack, and that they couldn't move more than 1500 on the invoice price. I'd have to look for a car that's been on the lot for a while and try to get them to move that one.

Thanks! Like I said before, I'm really glad you chimed in. I was hoping you would! hahaha! But yeah, the car is gonna be my daily, so if it's not a ton more harsh then a base v6 than that's not too bad. My current car has a 2.5" drop on K-sport coilovers that are set to max stiffness to prevent rubbing, so I'm not afraid of or a stranger to a harsh ride. There is no way any factory car could be as harsh as my current car. I hit some bumps and my windshield wipers turn on because it's so rough. lol

Same as the gt350 trans?

Yeah not sure about your area but I got a 2LT non RS in the PHX area for 24 and change. I think a base car is a great starting point to modify and build the way you want the nice thing is the car is common enoigh that over time you can add options on.
