Like most everyone here has said already, it comes down to what you want.
If it's Power - ZL1 It it's Trackability - ZL1 If it's value - ZL1 If it's internal aesthetics - Porsche, but not by much If it's Styling - personnel preference, IMHO it's ZL1, others will say Porsche If it's to turn a high maintenance girls head - Porsche If you don't want to spend a ton of money anytime a mechanic looks at it - ZL1 From my perspective, a Cayman isn't the 911 body style, and Porsche will not let it perform as well as one, just my .02 If you want to spend a lot more money to get a car that'll you have to correct everyone's pronunciation (it's Porsch-uh) go for it. |

4 cylinder Porsche... reminds me of the Diesel Panamera I saw when I lived in Italy. While I know the numbers for a diesel version vs. a gas Panamera S are about the same (except for torque) I still wouldn't spend that amount of money for a diesel - just not right....

Porsche makes exceptional cars, I don't think many enthusiasts would say otherwise. That said, their prices have become just too high. A well optioned 718 Boxster S or Cayman S at $75K is reasonable considering the build quality, handling/feel, performance and pedigree, but many new in-stock 718's are well over $70K and 718S's are approaching $90K. Some are even missing options like PASM and the Sports Exhaust. Why? Because they're expensive options that don't mean much to non-enthusiast buyers who want infotainment and comfort options (and big wheels).
Considering its ever improving competition like the Corvette, SS/1LE/ZL1 and GT350, Porsche has priced its entry level 718 sports cars out of most of the market. This is proven by their slow sales. True, compared to the 911 the 718 is a lot less money, but 911's have become too expensive as well. $140K used to be GT3 RS, Turbo and pre-owned exotic car territory, now it buys a Carrera S. |

Yeah basically every SS and ZL1 has the chrono package.
My Porsche had the chrono plus and it was one of the things I loved about it. They charge a stupid amount of money for it tho |

Take a look at Porsches options list on any of their vehicles. They charge a stupid amount of money for every thing.

I had a 718S Boxster for about a month .. tracked it twice, had about 1600mi total on it and traded it for an SS 1LE... haven't regretted it at all.
718S - surgical precision, fast, flaaaaat through turns, no drama especially with PDK which I love, but can't stay in love with it. New infotainment is the best I've used. 1LE - feels like an 18wheeler through a turn in comparison but has lots of drama and still plenty grip and just as fast if not faster (probably faster on track). |

I don't believe I have ever driven a car that cornered that well. I do not have the skills to utilize the cars abilities. I much prefer a car that has the balls to be stabbed through a turn, busted loose and use the rear wheels as a method of steering.
