How often do you run e85?
I was just wondering how often you guys with flex fuel kits run e85. I spoke to several shops in my area and they were concerned that the stock fuel lines etc. would eventually fail if I used e85 all of the time. I did not think I would but it's so damn cheap and the power is so much better than 91 that I don't think I can go back now. Does anyone have any insight on this?

I've only run 2 tanks of 93 since August
Once for tuning purposes and the other because I had no choice. I have not seen one report of an E85 issue on the Gen V platforms anywhere. Even with the MPG hit the cost in in favor of E85 in most areas. |

E85 100% of the time unless I want to squeeze a little more out of my fuel system I might thing it down a little to maybe e60.
An extra ~40hp at the same or less $/mile. This car should be flex from the factory.

All the time. This car already had the flex fuel capability in the PCM from the factory, just didn't use it.

I think their main concern was the material of the fuel lines. They said eventually they would deteriorate due to the high ethanol content. I am unsure of what are fuel lines are made of compared to a vehicle that comes with flex fuel from factory. They estimated 2-3 years.

Unfortunately I can only swing it for the track. Stupid gas stations. I would be a full timer if I could.

The fuel system is 100% compatible with ethanol. The concentration has nothing to do with it. Almost all gas today is E10, and that means the fuel system components can't be reactive with ethanol. This has been true of fuel systems since the early 90's. Why do you think old 90s gm efi cars had nylon fuel lines that kinked if you looked at them wrong? Not because they were awesome/cheap or serviceable.
I ran e85 in my 96 t/a for 20k miles in college when it first became widely available with zero issues. Just had to flash it back to the gas tune when I wanted to switch back to gas since flex fuel sensors were not even heard of at the time and that ancient pcm wouldn't know what to do with it anyway.

Since getting setup by Cajun & Tim, nothing but. I'll only run gas when I can't get E85.
E10 has been about all anyone could get for at least 7 years. All manufacturers have for at least 10 years been been manufacturing the fuel systems to support ethanol blended gas. Have no fear. ![]() ETA: Or what he said above. |

As soon as I get my car back from ARH and my tuner I plan on running E85 full time.
