Does the v6 run high oil press?

Seems like I run a higher oil pressure that other engines ive owned. I never get below 40 (or slightly at Idle) but when it's cold it's up at 55 and comes back down to around 40 ......what does everybody else have?

My oil pressure is at 24psi right now at idle with oil temp of 212* while I'm at 40 to 46 psi while driving

Same with me. 50 on cold start (30 degrees or colder) then 40 or 30 at idle once warm. Around 45 while driving.

I have the AutoEnginuity Scan Tool so I will hook it up and record the oil pressure as I drive today.

< 2000 rpm = 32-38 psi
2000-4000 rpm = 39-45 psi
4000-WOT = 46-49 psi

This is what I saw recorded on a 7 mile drive at 32 degrees

Cold start: 55 psi
Warmed up: 40-50 psi normal driving
Heavy acceleration: 50-80 psi depending on RPM

I would say it runs a little higher than I'm used to in a car.

I recorded the oil pressure an entire trip with the AutoEnginuity Scan Tool. This is a tool that monitors every signal that the car's computer receives, and can record them. It can also do other tests, such as individual injector testing. It is a hardware dongle that connects to your OBD-II port and connects to a laptop with a USB micro B cable. It literally has 2000+ sensors and systems that you can monitor and record. The software samples the data two times per second.

I reviewed the excel spreadsheet file that the AE scan tool created. I did see a momentary spike of oil pressure into the 90+ psi range. Not sure what caused it. I can monitor and record 12 systems at one time, so I will need to add some more systems and test again. Other than that oil pressure stayed between 38-49 psi.

I just went past 2500 miles on my V6 recently, so decided to let the engine rev a little. As it approached 5,000 rpm, my oil pressure spiked all the way to the red line (high end).

This was not a gradual increase in pressure, it jumped right to the top of the gauge.

Apparently on the 2010, this was normal (as per GM Service Bulletin: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showpo...6&postcount=28).

I took it into the dealer and they put a manual gauge on it and said at idle and 2000 rpm it is way too high. They have ordered a new oil pump. It gets installed after the long weekend.

Meanwhile... I get to drive a two year old Chevy Cruze and I'm having the time of my life -- NOT!

The spike you speak of is happening to everyone as far as I know I posted on this a while back with a video and during wide open throttle the oil pressure just pegs max.
