More answers for 4 Square setup
Hello,
I am sorry for starting another thread on this, but I haven't had an answer yet, or maybe I can't see the forest for the trees. Someone on this forum (Provoste) went to a 4 square set up 295/30' RE-71R with great looking tires. It was also mentioned that OE 20x10 front and 20x11 back were used. I saw Bridgestone's Potenza RE-71R on the side of his new setup. But someone posted the Michelin link to the Pilot Sport and I really like the Michelin tires. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...Pilot+Sport+4S My question is: can I mount those tires (295/30's) on the OEM rims that will be on my SS 1LE or do I need to order another set of rims ? That size seems to be such a great in between compromise down from the rear 305's. Any more info on a great 4 square set up (Rims and tires) would be great info. Cheers Al |

You should have no issues IMO ..according to their width range, 10-11" the measured rim width is 10.5" so half an inch increase or decrease should be negligible on a tire with that size. The fronts also shouldn't be mushy since it's only 10mm wider than the OEM sizes. I will most likely go with 295/30/20 F and 305/30/20 R staggered setup for myself as the tire wear is not too bad for street use, it will be also closer to the factory proportions.

Yes a big tire thread already, but just to chime in here (note I have no first hand experience with the car YET):
1) stock tires seem very capable, fast and at a decent price point - for a daily driver there seems little reason to change anything until you use them up, which could be a while. 2) Bridgestones in 295/30/20 square on stock rims fit well, they seem a bit faster than stockers, but they will lower your car a wee bit as the tire is a bit shorter and they will lower your gearing a bit. 3) Cup2s have stock sizes, but seem the most expensive choice and unsure what you'd be gaining vs stock Good Years. This is given you won't see much track duty. I like Michelin products myself, but given the choices I'd stay on stock rubber until I burned thru it. Then I'd likely put square Bridgestones on given I spend many days at a track. But if I didn't, I'd likely go back to stock Good Years. Cheers! |

Shouldn't have any problem....heck, GM stuck 285's all around on the 5th gen 1LE's.... was a little stretched on the rear rims, so 295's ought to be no problem.

295/30/20 is officially good for 10-11 inch rims per Tire Rack. So indeed no issues.

Thank you so much guys and gals.
This is exactly the info I needed. I'll wear out the stock tires first and put the 295/30/20 on later. I am ordering the splash guards and a few other goodies from ZL1. I think those are a must. I ordered my car with every possible options including the Video Recorder. Now the wait!!! It is on the sched to be built week of 24th April. Cheers Al |
