Dyno results :(
I wish I would have done a baseline when my car was stock but oh well. Anyway, I took my car to get dyno'd today to see where I stand with all my mods and I am a little disappointed at the results. 452HP/459ftlb.
Dyno was a Superflow and current mods are: Kooks LT 1 7/8 catless headers, MBRP race exhaust, EFI tuning e85 conversion kit w/tune, Roto Fab CAI and ported throttle body. Pull was done in 5th gear because the guy said 6th gear was too long of a pull. He also said that Superflow falls in the middle of Mustang and Dynojet. |

Those are good numbers.... you shouldnt be dissapointed with those.... who did your tuning? Did you take logs? Send the logs to your tuner and see if he can make some small tweaks for you.

At worst, you could ask the local guys with 6th gens if anyone would be willing to run their stock cars on that dyno to at least get something approaching a solid baseline to compare against.

Go get it dynoed on a dynojet if you want to compare with others.

If it's a manual I think it would be lower than an auto. Mine baselined lower than an auto(380s compared to 400s. I don't think this a8 loses as much through the drivetrain. Maybe I'm wrong tho.
Mine was about 380ish stock, 360-ish with Cai cai, pray ported TB, pray ported IM , kooks 1-7/8 catless, 3" axleback with 4"round straight through magnaflow. (It ran shitty with that and no tune. With tune it put 425hp, 432-ft lbs to the wheels. (Winter blend fuel) Just my .02

I've reviewed the log data and everything looks great. The lambda values are very close to where they should be. Timing is where it should be. The MAF readings were down compared to my car's last dyno (similar setup and identical MAF transfer function). That is simply weather and/or elevation.
It just is not valid to compare results from different types of dynos. Dynos really should be utilized to validate deltas (ie. same car, same dyno). Tim |

Is this a manual? If so it was pulled in 5th?? I thought the 1 for 1 was 4th?

If this is an A8 car and it was pulled in 5th then those are great numbers. 5th is down 20/30rw to 6th in my car. You don't have a ported IM? Who's TB is it? What was the E content?

Dynos are tuning tools. If you don't have a baseline why are you disappointed? You have literally no idea what you gained.
If all you care about is telling people how much WHP your car makes, yeah I'd be disappointed with 452. But let the car do the talking. My car makes 420 on a low reading dyno, I love telling people that then gapping their car that makes 460 on a dynojet.

The two DJ's I use are consistently 30rw apart. On the one dyno on pump gas in 5th the most my car has ever put down was 410/425rw. I don't dyno in 5th on the other so I am not really sure what it would say. But I have gone 11.2's@122 on pump gas at 3,840. Anyone think those numbers add up?
