Yep so it has to be oil pressure sensor then but may have wires going to other sensors converging in that harness. Now why would oil pressure sensor trigger surging? Limp mode I could understand as the computer is attempting to protect the engine. May be just because the signal was fluctuating bad enough to cause the computer to put it in Limp mode?
That would be my guess yes. The wires that are frayed were actually the ones that are plugging into that harness that go down below it. Nothing above that connector in the picture posted.

One was a 2SS, another was a ZL1...so seems random. May just come down to how that particular harness is installed.

Did you do anything about the frayed wires? Cut and splice? Or just tape up?

I cut the screwed up section up out, spliced, soldered and shrink wrapped them... I had to cut some of the loom back to make it work. It was a serious pain in the ass. If I would have taken the belt off it would have been much easier. I had someone hold the wires from the bottom and I soldered from the top.

Really need to see a wiring diagram to tell what's using those wires.

You're very welcome and thank you guys for sharing additional information/diagram on that. This is why I love this forums!

This and the lose swaybar endlinks were the couple issues that I've had so for hopefully these will the only hiccups since I really love this car

IF you didn't already check this threadhttp://www.camaro6.com/forums/showth...10#post9641310 and torque your endlinks:

Guys. Just checked my 11/16 1LE car. My harness is not even close to that belt. I could fit my fist between the harness and that belt. Like I don't even need to wire tie it back to make more room. Thank god. But yeah it's no where near close. I can't really get a pic, but the wires come out of that plug and go straight down to that Y. Again well behind and below the belt. Almost parallel to the engine.

Makes me wonder if there was just some clip or attachment that was left off on some vehicles. Wish I could get a better pic of what is holding mine together.

not knowing what the wires are for, could be a 5 volt reference wire that are shared with other sensors and by shorting it out to the one next to it could be affecting the other sensors readings witch in result may put car into limp mode
